Myles Turner - "One of the best practices I've had since I been here."

Post#1 » by boomershadow » Thu Sep 28, 2017 5:42 pm

Lots of cool tidbits coming out of media day and the start of training camp. I love a lot of what I'm hearing about this team. I'm pumped. I'm excited. I'm ready for the season to begin.

Is it me, or is he throwing a subtle punch at Paul George every training camp day?

He has also said "that's what a good leader does."

Can't blame him though, after everything Paul has said.

well there was that Cavs game where CJ Miles missed the final shot and Paul thought he should have taken it himself. given that Paul never hit a single game winner ever and that we lost far too many close games, I'm certainly not upset that he forced us to move on. if the players are buying in to a more team oriented approach, so much the better.

He has also said “Year’s past, the vets were here, but their voice didn’t always resonate too well in the locker room."

Too bad West left because he would've been good for Myles even with just one year. Monta and Paul were not great leaders. Leadership is a skill that you have to consciously hone, even if you are born with some naturally.

Leadership on a team doesn't necessarily have to come from the best player, but it has to come from somebody, and no one on our roster (or coaching staff) could give it last year. I think Myles is smart enough to step into that role sooner rather than later.

Love it. Myles is a far better leader already than PG ever was. With PG it always seemed like he was a ME first guy, maybe it seems that way because of his personality, I don't know. But Turner is just a natural leader. I feel like he'd be the locker room leader even if he was a scrub on the court.

It keeps coming.

Myles Turner
"You lose talent, but if you have a team locked in together and able to communicate and make that communication mean something, you don't lose too much."

Paul George
“It’s a real brotherhood in this locker room.

Everybody cares for one another. Everybody is pulling for one another.
There’s no trio with me, Melo and Russ. Everybody is in the loop, and everybody is communicating and talking to one another.
You have that. You have the trust factor. You have the chemistry factor. Now it’s just up to us to perform on the court.”

New day, new reflection:

“I’m surprised how competitive the group is,” Turner said after nearly a dozen practices. “Everybody is out here really hungry, just ready to compete every day. It’s a rejuvenating feeling walking into such a great facility like this and everybody’s ready to go from the jump. It’s refreshing.”

Finally a statement where Paul is looking at the future, not the past and where he admits his flaws.

Paul George on playing with Westbrook: "He's going to make the game so much easier for me."

Right, because Westbrook is a leader and a ballhandler that gets way more assists than turnovers.

Now if Turner is next to praise his teammates without another subtle stab, we can all enjoy what we have right now, look back at some of the great times we had with Paul George on our team and realize separation was the best way to go for both teams. :)

Oladipo and Sabonis are going to bring very good things for this franchise.
