The only thing I can make of this is just that GRIII is clearly still not game ready.

Maybe? Or maybe to preempt him being signed away from the Ants by someone else.

In sort of related news, Walt Lemon was signed to a 10-day by the Pelicans. I've wondered all season why the Pacers never signed him... he's been the Ants' best player by far.

Well, Pacers' 2nd round pick Edmond Sumner is going to have tons of opportunity now, with both Lemon and TMJ gone. Not a lot of other guards on the Ants.

I also expected Lemon. Have to wonder if this says anything about GR3 or Collison.

Since the Pacers don't play again for another 3-4 days, does it make sense to sign a ten-day right now? Anyway, doesn't look like a signing that will amount to much. Maybe give a couple players 2-3 extra minutes of rest per game?

The Pacers aren't really hurting for bodies even with DC injured, thanks to CoJo and Mighty Joe stepping up. As for GR3, well they've already played all season without him, so in a sense his availability isn't a factor. Depth at the wing is fine (Moore, Poythress), if anything's lacking it's PG depth, and then only until DC returns.

My guess is that the Pacers are doing what KP said they would, which is that they are going to evaluate the guys on the Ants. Maybe we'll see a series of different guys on 10-day contracts.

I think a lot of times players are signed to a 10 day contract to give the player some experience practicing with the team and being on the bench with them. This helps them gain confidence and prepare them for a possible future contract.

With GR3 cleared to play tomorrow, this feels like we didn't want anyone else to beat us to his tryout.
