Rehab updates.

Lamb said during the NBA restart in July that he didn’t want to set a timetable for his return. But Pacers president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard said Nov. 25 that he expects Lamb to return for the Pacers around mid-to-late January and Lamb confirmed Friday that he hasn’t had “a lot of setbacks.” He can play one-on-one but hasn’t met the requirements to be cleared for any other competition.

Head coach Nate Bjorkgren has been a “great communicator” throughout the rehab, Lamb said. The team did “95% defense” at practice Friday with an emphasis on conditioning, but Lamb did not participate; yet working through his rehab, Bjorkgren has encouraged Lamb to inform him when he feels uncomfortable doing certain movements.

He hasn’t done much, and for that reason, he said he’s not ready to put the injury and the recovery behind him. Lamb knows there’s more discomfort to come: His first knee pain after a game, the first practice. But as the Pacers returned to practice Friday, Lamb wanted to be there. “Don't take anything for granted,” Lamb said. “As many times as I said, ‘I really don't feel like practicing.’ Today, I really felt like practicing.”

I honestly forgot how good he was. His few games back have been really impressive

In all honesty, Lamb's production is probably going to revert to the mean as the season goes on

But even then, he is still going to be a solid rotational wing for us, so either way it's good to have him back

Absolutely. He’s a career 45/34/85 shooter who is currently shooting 54/41/93. There absolutely should be some reversion to the mean here, but at his career averages, he’s still a useful wing with some size who does a little bit of a lot of things, albeit none of them an expert.

Yup

The only downside with Lamb's return, if I have to find one, is that it pushes Sumner further out of the rotation

Sumner has been quite decent, though still a little unpolished

He played respectable defense on Lillard and Steph Curry. That was something that I hoped the team would continue to develop, hopefully moulding him into a mini defensive stopper

Obviously super small sample size and all, but his shot looks visibly better. I don't recall it having the same arc on it as it has since he came back, so there's a chance his percentages don't drop back to his averages. Who knows though.

Return to Indiana Pacers
