Re: Pacers trade rumors & speculation thread
I think they also could add a buyout player at vet minimum ? Not sure if there’s any players that they would consider.

They could wait until buy-outs begin and sign another center.

Because of how the vet minimum pro rates, we can sign a player to an above minimum salary using our MLE.
What player? Well, we’ll see?

I'd want us to add Ben Simmons via buyout. Our defense would be stout

I think a center is more likely, but I'm all for this if he can be signed for the minimum and that fits under the tax line,

We are already 11 deep and can't get Walker on the floor, but sure let's add another forward who gets in the way of development.
Go get a 3rd C and call it a day.

He does play C in Brooklyn

I don't think he would be interested in Indy,... He wouldn't want to play the role,... he wouldn't want to come off the bench,... We are unsure if he still has the quickness/short-area mobility to guard from the wings,... He would be a liability to shooting & spacing,...
But,.. we've been pretty consistently saying we need a forward that can guard big wings at both the 3 and the 4. IF Simmons can still do that at a high level (not even his past All defense level,... but just a high level)? and help with the rebounding? He could be worth a consistent spot in the rotation as the big wing defender? (Which could be what takes our improving defense to a playoff level?)
In the past he has resisted playing anything but PG, and not being the primary initiator in the offense,... neither of which he could do here. But, defensively,.. what a fit! His lack of a shot would be a problem, but his passing (particularly his entry passing to Pascal, or a cutter) with his ability to kick the ball back to the high shooter (i.e. Myles), might mitigate a small amount of the lack of shooting?
I just have this picture in my head of the 2nd unit,.. with TJ getting 2 feet in the paint,... drawing the step up from the D,.. and Simmons in the dunkers spot.... He may not have that any more? He may still not be willing to view his role any differently,...but the potential could be fun?
I have to admit,... this could be a better fit that I thought it might, but there's a LOT of "if's" in those paragraphs above.

more likely Bryant or Toppin or really any second unit player other than TJ.

KP likes hard working, blue collar type of players. Not entitled pseudo-celebrities like Simmons.

I suspect they'll look to Tyrese to learn who can and cannot fit in the locker room.

Bamba? Boucher - ask Pascal first?

Simmons at 6'10'' could play center. IF he could be had for the min I'd take a flier on him.

Any chance Capela or Nance get bought out by Atlanta? Hard to see another buyout center worth adding.

Thank Christ this didn’t happen. I imagine one of Portis or Cannaughton would’ve been rerouted elsewhere, but yikes.

But I know I don't have the knowledge of these guys,.. or the resources that you do.
Also couldn't find any mention of this anywhere else,... and us trading in division, with the Bucks,.. would have gotten someone's attention?

When I try to look him up via Depaul,... these come up:
Sean Wright: There is a controversy surrounding a Twitter user named Sean Wright who claims to be a journalist reporting on the Milwaukee Bucks, but there is no credible proof of his existence or his credentials. He is suspected of using a stock image for his profile picture, and his account seems to have been created recently.
https://www.reddit.com/r/MkeBucks/comments/oxwdao/comment/h7p5y53/
Apparently,... his headshot is a stock photo (evidence is on the reddit page),... and the only stories that can be verified are uncredited redirects from publicly published stories. - His NItter page claims the stock photo is him,... but that he was paid to be a 'stock photo' for other uses.
He does seem to have an extensive background on Nitter?...
The book on his NItter page,... isn't listed by New York Times best seller list,... nor is he identified as a NYT BS list author, can't find any reference for it on any of the current or historical publishing records, including the referenced publisher Scholastic? This isn't my area,.. so it could exist,... but it doesn't show up easily to normal research methods.
Getting kinda sad,.. when you have to spend more time researching the bylines,.. than the players or the teams,...
If Silver actually wanted to do something to help the game, the players, the teams, & the fans,... he would find a way to do something about this? I mean, they are all using the league symbols, NBA. But yeah,.. he more interested in doing something that, in his own mind, will secure his legacy (visibility) for generations,.... just my opinion.
