Some of those Charlotte fans are wildly emotional about the LAL/CHA trade.

Someone called me Dr. Pepper for simply sharing my opinion lol

Past trades: I don't think this deserves its own thread but I was thinking about the Oladipo trade that sent him to Houston as part of the Harden to the Nets deal. The Pacers got LeVert and was it 3 2nds? I hated taking LeVert as I saw him as an injury prone 3pt chucker. Then we heard about his Kidney issue, the Pacers could have done what the Lakers did in the Mark Williams deal. But they got a 3rd 2nd round pick instead.

I was looking at the long term effect of this trade. They sent LeVert to the Cavs for Rubio, a 2023 #1 and a 2022 2nd. Rubio for was for salary never played for the Pacers. The 2022 2nd became Andrew Nembhard the 2023 #1 became Ben Sheppard and there were 3? 2nds from the Oladipo trade. Does anyone know who the Pacers got with those additional 2nds?

Good info what I was trying to figure out was if those 2nds from the Oladipo deal had all been used or traded off.

Twitter says we’ve signed Jahlil Okafor, didn’t see that coming (assuming it’s real)

BlueSky says it's a 10 day. Don't see anything on Len and waiver claims

MAYBE LAKERS

I really hope so because I would rather see Okafor succeed here.

I'm shocked at either. Okafor is slower than Moses (Brown  ), so we know even if he puts up a stat, he'd be a hindrance to the team. Wonder if it's a "do good" for the agent and player while we figure out how to really fill the position?

It's a 10 day so it buys time through the all star break.

Absolutely. And with that, it allows us more time if we chose to waive James Johnson going into the playoffs and promoted one of the two ways, like Freeman, to the main roster to play in the playoffs.

Hasn't he been with the Mad Ants since the beginning of the season?

If we made a trade of Walker OR Mathurin for Herb, I would understand. But both, along with a 1st? That's insane. I think most of it is, and not saying they're dumb or ignorant or insulting them, that it's hard for people to see why Walker is getting jerked around a bit on minutes and his stats aren't consistently "growing huge". Or why Nesmith is getting some starts over Mathurin. To an outsider, it's hard to look and see anything other than "man, this team is ignoring them and they're not really being utilized, why not condense to someone who is starting elsewhere?"

I agree and I think it's a good lesson of how these players are valued around the league. Players like Walker still hold a good amount of value to their teams because they are role players, young, cost-controlled, and have a ceiling that is more than their current level.

You factor all of that and sure, a team isn't paying multiple 1sts for Jarace Walker, but he still has a clear path to becoming a good player in the NBA.

It's also just a bad use of assets, objectively. Teams who are middle-of-the-pack playoff teams shouldn't be draining their asset pool for Herb Jones level players. No offense to Herb Jones, but he just isn't going to change the fortunes of a franchise. If I'm giving up Walker/Mathurin/1st, I want a player who has a good chance of changing our future outlook.

Setting aside players who deserve contracts rivaling Haliburton/Siakam/Turner, I question whether there are any players out there who would clearly make us a top 3 team in the East. Which is not to say I won't sacrifice a rotation player to keep Turner without paying tax. I just don't see a big trade coming and calling one a consolidation doesn't change my opinion.
