I like the kid...I think he is a good fit here..He can run the floor, throw it down with his athletisism, and is a pretty good rebounder..I was watchin NBAtv and he made 3 of the top 10 plays in one night, you gotta love that..Does anyone else think we have our pf of the future or is it just me?

I think the jury is still out on his potential, but he's shown he deserves more playing time and to be somewhere in the rotation.

He has the potential to be a great all-round player. He just needs some experience and practiced polish. He could be what Croshere was supposed to be, if that makes any sense.

McRoberts is the poster boy for why a noncontending team like the Pacers should fill out the back of the roster with intriguing young unknowns rather than cheap role-playing vets. The vets aren't going to make much difference anyway, whereas if you go with the unknowns, every once in a while you might find a diamond in the rough.
Let's be honest, this is the time of year when a lot of opponents are just going through the motions, so I'm not sure how much it means that McRoberts has had some big games like yesterday's. Even so, I'm optimistic that he's not a mirage, but will prove someday, in more meaningful games, that he's a good find for the P's.

I think it's worth noting Josh did most of his damage last night against Jordan HIll and Hill looked generally lost out there. That said when we beat Utah a week or so ago McRoberts made some really nice plays against Boozer. There are times when McRoberts looks like he could be a really good NBA player. Generally I can't figure out why Jones got more burn this season.

It seems to me that every time he got the minutes, he put up the numbers...and yes maybe it is just becasue some of the teams we are playing are putting up their full effort..but either way i think he's still got a lot of potential and could become a starting pf if givin the right oppurtunity

I made this for Gremz but he disappeared or something...

That's a nice sig. Wonder why Gremz never wore it? lol
I do think he has potential. The comparison i once heard and i think Mike Wells said it was he could turn into a Chris Anderson type player. I could see it. But, like Larry Bird said, the only way he can ever hang in this league with regular minutes is if he dedicates himself to the gym and becomes a "gym rat". He has a lot of work ahead of him to polish up his game and work in several areas but the potential is there. I'm glad he's our "pet project" and not somebody elses because if he works out, our FO will look genius and if he doesn't, then he may have had the most fanfare i've ever seen for a guy who rode the bench as often as he did. lol

If he does this summer what Roy Hibbert did last summer, he'll get into the rotation as the 8th or 9th man on the bench (4th big) and never leave the rotaion.

I keep trying to call this. McBob and Hansbrough are the new Dale and Antonio.

I always knew about McRoberts' passing and handling ability for a big, but even I have been surprised by his athleticism. He won the McDonald's Slam Dunk contest I believe, but he's throwing down like one of the NBA's best big man dunkers. If he can work on a serviceable mid-range jumpshot and have Feisty teach him some technique defensively, he might be a key rotational big for us, for years to come.

I wonder how hard McRoberts works at becoming better? Coming out of high school he was rated in the top 5 (I think). Yet in two years at Duke he fell off the map. Its hard to figure out why because he clearly has talent. There really aren't that many guys his size in the NBA who can handle the ball, pass and jump like he can. A lot of people are really high on Greg Monroe and what seems set him apart is his passing. Is he really that much better a passer than McBob and he probably isn't as good athletically.

If the Pacers keep Troy Murphy next season, I don't think McBob will get enough minutes to show how good he can become, just like the Blazers couldn't free Bayless until they send away Steve Blake.

Duke played McRoberts like he was Shelden Williams, Carlos Boozer, and Elton Brand as a rugged interior presence because he was the only guy on their team with any real size. On the rare chances that he got to operate the high post and use his passing, handling, and overall awareness; he always impressed me.
I will say this about McBob, he needs to get stronger, and he also needs to learn to get some more arch on his shot. He has one of the flattest shots in the NBA. If he can get some more arch on his shot, he'll get some friendlier bounces on the rim, instead of being all or nothing with his lazer, line-drive shot.

Hansbrough's jumper is also flat.

The flat jumper and the obvious need to increase strength coupled with appearance that neither of these issues appear to have been addressed since he was playing at Duke are why I raise the question. I can't imagine he hasn't been told these are areas in which he needs to work. Think what it would do for his game if he developed a pull up jump shot. Couple that with his ability to finish and his superior overall quickness and he could be really tough to guard.
I think he might have more potential than any of the current Pacer young guys just not sure much is being done to develop it. Pretty good chance yet another power forward will be drafted this summer. This will be a pretty critcial summer for Josh. He needs to step things up or he could get burried.

Weren't there news stories last summer about how McRoberts had hit the weight room and bulked up?
I thought I remembered reading that, but correct me if I'm wrong.

I remember hearing the story too. I just didn't see that much evidence of it.

He looked a little bigger, but he was never big to begin with, so he can definitely get stronger.

McBob got heavier, which, even if it's muscle, doesn't always directly affect strength. He's listed around Dwight Howard's weight but Dwight is way stronger. He could use a lot more work in the gym to get in better shape.
