Your favorite 2nd round senior sleeper
At this point I think everyone would agree the Pacers scored pretty well with their 2009 2nd round pick AJ Price. Its probably worth mentioning that about half this board trashed the pick when it was made. Who has the potential to be the AJ Price of the 2010 draft? These are my favorites?
1. Greivis Vasquez, there is probably a better than 50/50 chance his game doesn't translate to the NBA. But, if it does I think he could be a bigger, better scoring version of Jason Williams. He will have to look a little less for his own shot and a little more for his team mates. When I've watched him it looks like he can find people. He also has the size to play the 2. If he can tweek his game a little he could be a pretty unique player.
2. Jarvis Varnado, could be this year's Taj Gibson. Have to wonder if he brings more than Solomon Jones. I really have no idea.
3. Brain Zoubek, is a really good rebounder and he is big. He could play in the league a long time giving his team 10 to 15 minutes of defense and rebounding. Anytime you draft a guy in the second round who sticks in the league its a success

Re: Your favorite 2nd round senior sleeper
Zoubek could be a Greg Ostertag-ish type player in the NBA. For a 2nd rounder, he's not too bad. He's got size and is athletic enough to run the court. Do the foot issues both the team doctors, though? Worth a look. Same for Varnado and Vasquez.
DaSean Butler, Manny Harris, and even Luke Harangody are other guys I'd look at in the 2nd. I'm a fan of going younger and with more potential in the 1st round this year, and going with a veteran who still has something to prove in the 2nd round.

Harangody reminds me of Linas Kleiza. I wouldn't mind seeing the Pacers get him with a second-round pick, if he's still available.
But I haven't given our second-rounder much thought yet.

I'm an ND guy, and I don't think I want Harangody.

Sherron Collins, Craig Brackins, Brian Zoubek and if he drops Gani Lawal are guys I hope we look into with our 2nd Round pick. Alexey Sheved looks like an interesting one if he can be had.

Re: Your favorite 2nd round senior sleeper
You guys can not be serious about Brian Zoubek? The guy is garbage. Very slow feet. Very bad with the ball. Can't score. Duke only played him because NCAA lacks quality big men, and many teams play 2 forwards and 3 guards.... and Zoubek is a 7'2 guy who gives them a mismatch each game. He won't get drafted and i doubt he plays a minute in the NBA.
As for second round guys, i really like Sherron Collins and DaSean Butler. Butler was one of my favorites for a 2nd round pick before all his injuries. Not sure how he will recover. The guy is 100% class. One of the best defenders in college basketball who showed he can score. I doubt he'd ever be a starter due to being a bit slow and lacking the offensive game, but he wouldn't be a liability on offense, just not a strength and on defense he could be a stud.
And how about Kyle Singler? I know he's not a senior but he's going to the NBA according to many scouts. Chad Ford said he will be a very late first or early 2nd round pick. Him dropping to our spot could be golden for Indiana. Very good defender, very good scorer, good size, decent speed, and a winner. Exactly what Larry Bird likes in a player. The question is, does anyone think he can be a NBA starter? I think he'll have a better NBA career then our very own Tyler Hansbrough, but idk if he'll ever be a consistent starter.

The fact that he's 7'2" means he'll be given a chance.

Given a chance yes, drafted or even play a minute in an NBA game, no.
The dude is slow as is and has had lots of foot problems already in his career. I think he missed most of his sophomore season at Duke due to foot injuries. Those things just don't go away. He's what he is. Dominates the smaller college players. He won't raise his game at the next level because this is all he has.

anyone without enough food speed to guard Matt Howard isn't going to be much of a prospect.

Re: Your favorite 2nd round senior sleeper
Most of the others make sense, but Zoubek will be lucky to get drafted. He'd have to have one heck of a workout with some team that owns a last 10 pick to even get considered. He may not be the worst guy for the Pacers to take a chance at 57 on, but I honestly think the Pacers could do a lot better.

I think Zoubek will get drafted. You can't teach size, and at the very least, he'll be a decent third string center for some team. I mean if Adonal Foyle still plays basketball, why can't Zoubek?

For those of you having trouble identifying seniors, here's a link to the Portsmouth invitees list:
http://www.hoopsworld.com/college/story ... y_id=15845
I'd take Omar Samhan before Zoubek. Samhan is less athletic, but already understands how to score. He's also stronger.
Does anyone think that Aubrey Coleman will fall to the 2nd round?
JP Prince should fall to the 2nd round. He looked outstanding when it counted during the tourney, and I've heard nothing but good things about his work ethic.
Kyle Gibson pulled out of Portsmouth, I don't think he's a first rounder either.
Adam Koch is Tyler Hansbrough but played for a small school (UNI) and isn't he an a-hole on the court. There's a strong possiblity that he'll be available late in the 2nd if the Pacers want to use Dallas's pick on him. They have the option to take Dallas's 2nd round pick this year if they want it. Otherwise it will be theirs in 2011 if I read things correctly.

Thanks for proving my point. A bum in the NBA such as Foyle, is currently 3rd in NCAA history in block shots, was a rebounding machine and led his team in scoring while in college. His game didn't translate either but he had many of the tools. Besides size, Zoubek has nothing else. Dude can't even jump.

Foyle started for a while and stuff. He's a smart cookie. But yes, he isn't the best. I'm not saying that Zoubek deserves to play in the NBA, I'm just saying he will.

My 2nd round list looks like this -
PG: Jeremy Lin (Harvard) - Malcolm Delaney (Va Tech - groom him at the point)
SG: Dominique Jones (South Florida) - Aubrey Coleman (Houston)
SF: Manny Harris (Michigan) - JP Prince (Tennessee) - Quincy Pondexter (Washington) - Darrington Hobson (New Mexico - it worked the first time taking a kid from New Mexico!)
PF/C: Jarvis Varnado (Miss State) - Dexter Pittman (Texas) - Art Parakhouski (Radford) - Trevor Booker (Clemson)

guess those aren't all seniors with Jones and Harris on the list, but they will be in the 2nd round.
