I will say yes, as long as GSW add Stephen Curry or the lottery pick (only if it's top 2) this year.

So Maggette will cost lottery picks to move?
About what I'd expect, minimum.
Team has way overvalued Curry for good now even though he's a perfect Maggette dump piece.

It would take serious sweetener to move Dunleavy's contract for Maggette's and take on the extra 2 years of salary at over $21 million total. I have trouble moving Dunleavy for Hinrich. I have serious trouble moving Dunleavy for Maggette. Magg's, despite all his scoring ability, is simply a tough contract to build around. If we had already made our moves (found our long-term answer at PG and PF), and Hibbert was already playing like a Rik Smits, then maybe, yeah. Then we could add a dynamic scorer at the SG spot to play next to Granger and live with his contract, but we're far from that point.
Adding in Stephen Curry would make it very interesting though.

Maggette is a good scorer. But to back in to the playoffs, the Pacers need a play-maker not a scorer. That's why Maggy does not attract to the Pacrers that much, especially his contract is 2 years longer and we still have 3 wing players other than Dunleavy Jr.

Well, obviously the Pacers say no to a Dunleavy/Maggette swap. He's not filling a position we need, and he's paid for what, two years more than dunleavy?
But the people who are trying to suggest getting Curry along with Maggette.... Uh.... Let's not repeat that sort of thing out on the trades and transactions board. We'll look really really stupid. Curry is great. He was a unanimous first-team all-rookie. He's the best thing to happen to golden state since their first-round upset of the mavericks. No way they are giving him up..... to dump corey maggette, who while he has flaws, isn't an elton brand albatros contract.

^^ Agreed... adding in Curry is homerish.
Although, for $hits and giggles, trading away an expiring for Maggette is equal amounts of homerism the other way. Seriously, Jr. is in a contract year and he will not have to rehab this summer like the previous two offseasons. All signs point to Mike relegating BRush to spot-minutes next season, while hopefully returning to form. I expect Dunleavy to be healthy and full of stamina, in order to get paid on his next contract.

I'd love to see Dunleavy healthy and playing well again. That would really help the Pacers. The team would have a pretty good shot at making the playoffs next year...or, they'd have a good trading chip what with his expiring contract.
Frankly, if he can get healthy again, I'd like to see the Pacers re-sign Dunleavy (at a much lower salary) and make him their sixth man--I think he'd be very good in that role.
I'd hate to see the Pacers trade him for Maggette.

Dunleavy, when he's not hesitant, is a good passer. Unfortunately, coming back from injury made him look really incompetent as a ballhandler and distributor, where he's actually not that bad. I agree with the 6th man idea. I think he's the perfect 6th man. Bring some scoring off the bench, keep the offense running, and flop a lot. Sounds like Manu.

Good stuff, thanks for taking my topic up seriously like this.
I always liked Dunleavy... except for the part where we drafted him 3rd and paid him like a total star. But he was coming along fine until GSW went gimmicky on us. Looked good for you not that long ago.

If anyone is against Curry+Maggette for Dunleavy then just don't post here anymore.
That being said, that would never happen so forget it anyway.

Yeah, the Warriors are all-in on Curry's gimmicky game for the long haul.
It's not even Nellie, it's the ticket sales end of the operation. Curry's really popular.
And I don't think Robert Rowell will admit his incredible failure and send a pick to dump his signing, Maggette.

Oh absolutely. I would never expect GS to give up Curry to dump Magg's. They shouldn't. However, for Indy at this point, Magg's doesn't provide anything we need right now, and has a big contract for many years. We'd prefer to have Dunleavy, have him expire, and then hopefully re-sign him for half as much (wishing optimistically, of course).
I mean, there's all kinds of other options. Would we consider a Magg's and top 4 pick for Dunleavy's contract? Of course. Would we consider a Magg's and top 4 pick for Dunleavy and our 10th pick? So long as we love the guy at GS pick (which we likely would) then yeah! But, I can't imagine GS paying that type of price. They'll likely look for a really crappy expiring contract on a competing team and just give up all on-court value for contractual value.

Not straight up. Pacers will have a ton of cap space coming off the books soon, and Dunleavy is a big part of that.

What's interesting is you have to ask, what could dunleavy get on the open market? Obviously he's got a year to improve, but if we pretended he was a FA right now.... what would he get?
29 years old, peaked 2 and a half years ago, injured for almost a whole season, comeback season was a complete yawn.
Do you see any team giving Dunleavy the MLE? Absolutely not. Dunleavy is going to be 30 by the end of next season, and he's going to want one last contract - he will take whatever has the biggest total amount, regardless of the years, because he could be out of the league permanently with one injury.
So, what's the best he could get? 3 years/9 million if he plays pretty decently this next season?

I'd probably say 2 years 6 million. If I were a GM, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable giving him a 3rd year with his knee troubles.

No no no no no to Dunleavy, under any circumstance. He will never help us win, ever. We are far better off spending the money on a young talent for cheap that could possibly develop into something more, or going elsewhere w/ a proven guy to use as a sixth man. Dunleavy is done, and will continue to hold the Pacers back until he's gone.

Dude...Dunleavy's not the plague.
He's a smart player, his shooting was back at the end of the season, he doesn't cause locker room troubles...
He'd be a contender for 6th man of the year if he produces at regular efficiency at 30 minutes a game.

All true if he were a free agent now. Dunleavy is a smart enough guy to realize it too. That's why I think he will have a big year next year. There is a lot riding on this season for him and I expect he will put the necessary work in to salvage his situation. That could be a pretty nice dividend for the Pacers next season.

Golden State isn't giving up Curry, and rightfully so. He has the makings of the next elite point guard.
If the Warriors really want to dump Maggette's salary, three deals I'd say are reasonable...
1) Maggette & #4/5 for Dunleavy & #10
2) Maggette & Brandan Wright for Dunleavy & filler
3) Maggette & Anthony Randolph for Dunleavy & #10
