Hibbert to Utah?

Post#1 » by TheOneAndOnly » Tue May 18, 2010 7:13 pm

would Indiana give up Hibbert for Utah's #9 pick this year? Just curious what you all think of Hibbert. Jazz were very high on him when he came out and would have drafted him if available.

i would do that trade because I think the pacers need to get more physical inside and we could draft someone like aldrich with number 9 and ekpe udoh at number 10

PG ????
SG rush
SF granger
PF udoh
C aldrich

If we could get a pg we would be set

I wouldn't. I don't see another C in this draft with Hibbert's potential to be honest. I don't think Aldrich is available at #9 anyway.

To consider this trade Aldrich would have to be available at 9. In a straight comparison of Aldrich and Hibbert I think Aldrich will be a better defender and rebounder and Hibbert will have the better offensive game. Agree completely that the Pacers need to get more physical inside. If Hansbrough makes it back I think he goes a long way toward solving that problem. Right now I'd rather keep Hibbert and look at one of the power forwards at pick 10 who is a superior athlete.

Also not crazy about starting over with another rookie at center.

Aldrich not being available at 9 speaks volumes on the amount of true center depth these days. Remember that BJ Mullins went in the first round last year? Kosta Koufos...

I don't think that the Pacers would give up Hibbert unless the Jazz are dangling a top 3 pick after the lottery tonight. Even then it would be questionable to trade a 1/2 developed kid for a completely undeveloped one.

I'd rather just take Udoh at 10 and play him in a trio with Hibbert and Hansbrough than trade Hibbert for Aldrich.

Developing big men is a pain. Hibbert is showing that he's got the work ethic. Let's keep with him and know that if he fails, it's only because his talent isn't there (which doesn't look to be the case).

edit: I thought the censor would stop that one...sorry.

If that trade were to happen, what about Greg Monroe and Ekpe Udoh at 9 and 10? That would be a pretty nice frontcourt rotation. I know that won't happen, but just saying.

No f'n way I trade Hibbert for Aldrich, essiantially. No way. I have a feeling Aldrich will be a big bust, and honestly, I'm just tired of slow white guys playing for Indiana.

Absolutely, It would be very hard for me to be willing to part with Roy Hibbert right now. He looks like he's on the right track. Mike Wells wrote today that a top-3 pick doesn't guarantee anything, based on history. And he also wrote, that Hibbert has arrived in Indianapolis on Monday with AJ Price and McRoberts and all three are already working out. Seems they are very committed. McRoberts NEEDS to be a "gym rat" as Larry Bird said at the State of the team press conference if he wants to be a professional player. Price is coming into his second year as a pro and is a backup and will need to develop his game to remain a backup and maybe become starter down the road. Both have big reasons why they should be working out early.... Hibbert though, is a starter and is penciled in to start in November. Him showing up and working shows a lot about the guy. He is not satisfied at who he is, he wants to improve and become better.

I wouldn't trade Hibbert for #9.
Only for a top 3 pick.

Hibbert is developing nicely and is probably the lone bright spot at the moment (hopefully Rush can develop more as well)

Not the right topic, but If we stay around the 10th spot, i am hoping Xavier Henry or James Anderson impresses us a lot and we pick one of them and then trade Rush in a package to land a PG.

Yes please, I am not convinced that Rush has the skills to be a legit starter for us. Out of high school Henry was recieving the same praise as Wall, I don't think any of that skill went away, I think Henry is going to be a big time player. A lot of people think that may be a little high to take him, but it's a safe pick. Then the idea of shipping Rush and maybe an expiring to land a good PG sounds great to me.

I love that plan.

Utah could just draft Aldrich straight up, that would be a lot easier.

I don't think Aldrich will be available for them.

Aldrich? Its laughable how Hibbert's rep took a hit in his final year in college while Aldrich is still viewed as a lottery pick. Hibbert will end up having the better pro career of the two.
