Micheal Beasley

Post#1 » by basketballwacko2 » Thu Jun 3, 2010 10:22 pm

Micheal Beasley has appearently fallen out of favor with the Heat. Check out the Wiretap story on this. The Nets turned down a deal of Dooling for Beasley? How low has this guy sunk?

What was it that Beasley did that got him in trouble? I don't recall, but would we be willing to take the guy for a deal like TJ Ford for Beasley and James Jones?

Yeah...Beasley has some mental problems...not Ron Artest I'm gonna run up in the stands, quit the NBA to start a rap career or walk around during halftime in my underwear problems...but more like depression and things. But yeah, if that's true...Dooling for Beasley, I would trade Ford and a 2nd rd pick for Beasley in a heartbeat. If we could get James Jones back in a Pacers uni as well, I'd be crazy happy. He was a beast in college, I think in a small market with less pressure to put up points, he could flourish.

Before everyone hops on this, think about it for a second.

Keyon Dooling is a non-guaranteed contract. He can be cut immediately and not take up any 2010 cap space.

Miami is at the point where they can financially sign 2 max free agents. If they can dump Beasley's contract, they could potentially get 3 max free agents. Think about that. They could re-sign Wade, and then go out and get Bosh AND LeBron. That's ridiculous and certainly worth dumping Beasley for.

But also keep in mind that NJ is looking for maximum cap space and could use Dooling's non-guaranteed contract for themselves as well and potentially get 2 max free agent's as well. Why would they want to help Miami possibly look even more attractive to potential free agents that NJ would be bidding for against them?

Miami would never offer this deal after the max free agents sign, and NJ would take it in a second if all of the max free agents signed elsewhere. It's simply timing, and competition.

Long story short, we simply cannot offer any deal that is appealing to Miami for Mike Beasley. It would be tremendous, yes, but we don't have any non-guaranteed deals to make it work, and Miami doesn't really have any other deals to dump. James Jones is already only partially guaranteed, and Miami has a team option on the other 3 guys under contract. It's not that they want to dump Beasley, they are just exploring all options and 3 max guys would be worth moving Beasley for.

What about Dahntey Jones. He is worth his salary, especially for a team that needs perimeter defenders to help out Dwayne.

Beasley seems to be really good at times, or really bad. Maybe he needs a fresh start. I'd certainly like to acquire him for cheap.

Dahntay Jones has a guaranteed contract. Miami is only looking to move Beasley for a non-guaranteed contract as they hope it means they can then sign Wade, LeBron, and Bosh.

Wade, LeBron, and Bosh > Wade, Bosh, and Beasley

but

Wade, Bosh, and Beasley > Wade, Bosh, and Dahntay Jones

Keep that in mind. Jones offers nothing to Miami. Pure cap space is what they're looking for.

we're a year away from being able to make this kind of deal. if we just hold onto Murphy, TJ, Mike, et all, we can offer a second round pick and no players to teams wanting to dump the salary of a decent prospect. we might even be able to do the same near the trading deadline if we can find someone who thinks a Murphy is their missing play-off piece. I think Scoot's right though that we have nothing that Miami is interested in until after the Wade situation is settled.

besides, I haven't seen Beasley have big game at Conseco yet.

Yeah that's what I was thinking when I looked at their roster they have Beasly and Cook on multi year deals everyone else is team option yrs or in the case of James Jones not garranteed. They wanted that non garranteed deal of Doolings. Signing 3 guys at $17 million is $51 million leaving the $6 or $7 million to fill out a team with scrubs and min contracts. And they'd be tough with Wade, Bosh and LeBron and 12 scrubs.
