San Antonio Trade

The Spurs are looking to get the 10th pick from the Pacers. The Pacers need a PG. If the Pacers got Tony Parker, the Spurs would probably need somebody to fill in for PG for a season. Pacers could trade the 10th pick, Ford, Rush, S. Jones for Parker and the 20th pick. Then the Pacers could draft Dominique Jones to be a combo guard to be a back up while price is out and be a SG to replace Rush. If Parker left after a year, then Dominique Jones could be an option at PG and he would be cheap.
PG Parker
SG Dominique Jones/Dahntay Jones
SF Granger
PF Murphy
C Hibbert
If this is possible, what do ya think about it.

I don't think you can trade two young assets for Parker (a likely one year rental). George HIll on the other hand is a real possibility. I"m thinking Rush, pick 10 for Hill and pick 20.

No to Parker and his year rental, does nothing for us but put us further in the hole.

Even if Parker would be a rental, Pacers would still get a first round pick back in return. Solo and TJ contracts are up at the end of the year and I think that if Rush doesn't average 13 or 14 points a game this year the Pacers will trade him or won't pick up his option and use the 3 million to bring in a better player in free agency next off-season.

Welcome to the board, Indy! This is a exciting time of the year and it's always good to see new people sign up.
Anyways, as it has been said before, i wouldn't get Tony Parker unless he gives his word on an extension to remain with us. Signing him long term would be well worth giving up the 10th pick. Parker and Granger on the same team would lure somebody in 2011 as worst case scenario if things don't work out as planned in 2010. Without a guarantee, i agree, giving up a 10th pick for a "rental" would be a suicidal move to a team already on life support.

I said this before and I'll say again.
Unless we get Parker to stay for more than 1 year I say NO, NO, NO and HELL NO, to getting him simply as a 1 year rental.
I understand that if he comes to play for a year and then leaves we will have the added cap space (to go with Troy and Mikey D) but again we'll be back at square one and in need of a PG.
I'm tired of the Pacers being in this never ending cycle of PG search.

I'd be willing to drop 10 spots (from 10 to 20) in a draft to swap an expiring TJ Ford for Tony Parker, even if Tony was a one year rental. At least we would've given it a shot.
I'm not willing to add in additional other pieces of value that we simply don't have, or can't afford to add in. This is a team bereft of young talent, and Rush is purely that.

Risking Tony Parker for a year is just as much a risk as getting an undersized point guard who had decent numbers as a rookie but nobody knows how they could handle a full year as a starter. We would have to give up our pick and not get one in return for Lawson or Collison. If we can get the 20th pick along with Parker. That's the best option for the Pacers, unless you are all sold on TJ Ford and AJ Price. I like TJ but we all know he ain't a real PG, he's a 5'11 SG. Pacers will never win starting him at point guard. If the Pacers had Parker, their chances of being a playoff team would increase a lot. Tony Parker 28, is still a young, but all-star veteran point guard that the Pacers could have chance at signing to a long term deal if they show him they're dedicated to trying to win a championship.

No one's sold on TJ Ford.
However, trading down 10 spots and giving up Brandon Rush sets you back another couple years if you lose Tony Parker, and puts you in serious trouble where you'd have to start looking at moving Danny Granger, as he'd be about 29 years old, with only Roy Hibbert and Tyler Hansbrough (and a Damion Jones level player). That's a team that needs to move their "star player" for depth and value. Then, you're looking at another 3-5 year run of what we've already seen these past 3 years.

If the Pacers got Parker, it is still possible to get Colllison. They would probably have to take on Posey's contract. The Pacers would still be in the sames hole as if Parker left, if Collison doesn't turn out to be a good starting PG. The Pacers would be better off with the Parker trade and drafting a PG with the 20th pick, because the draft pick would have just as much of a chance as Collison as being a decent starting PG. Pacers wouldn't have to take on Posey's contract either.

Agree If you could do either Murphy or Ford and 10 for Parker and 20 absolutely. A risk worth taking. You would have a ligit chance of being successful and a place where Parker might stay.
pg Parker
sg Rush
sf Granger
pf Hansbrough
c Hibbert
off the bench Dunleavy, Foster, Jones and pick 20
That team could be pretty good. Unfortuantely, I see now way San Antonio gives away Parker to move up 10 draft spots.

Spurs were shoppin him to New York. Only thing I see New York having to offer is a sign and trade for David Lee and their 1st rounder for Parker. I'm not sure Knicks would do that. They might tho.

Knicks don't have a 1st rounder they can trade until something like 2014 or later.

I will not give away Rush and the #10 to rent Tony Parker for 1 yr and drop ten spots in the draft!
Parker is a no unless he is signed to an extension prior to the trade, 3 yrs $35 million or so.
