"PG is our No. 1 priority," Pacers president Larry Bird said. "We talked to every team (over the past few weeks) and we'll go back and talk to some of those teams again."

"The teams under the salary cap are waiting to see what happens with players like LeBron and Wade and where they're going," Bird said. "After that, things will open up and things will progress for other teams. We're going to take our time and not rush into anything."

"We've got these expiring contracts, and there are teams that want them," Bird said. "They may not have wanted them during the draft, but as the offseason and season goes on, they start looking at their team and they're going to see the opportunity to do a deal. We're in a good position now."

"This is a good time for us to stay active," Bird said. "We know there's going to be some point guards out there. We just have to make sure it's the right fit for us. We've accumulated assets, and a lot of people like the assets that we have."

The front office needs play in the Market for both this year and 2011. Shop and Buy both seasons. 2011 All Or Bust is not a good plan. Build now and then. The results of this years shows progress, which is what the City/Fans need and it show the League and other 2011 Fre Agents that we are serious and shows what they can join. Baby step; but take a step!

I thnk we will deal one of 2 of our Expiring Players Most likely TJ and Dunleavy or foster, what we don't want to do is like we did when Croshere was expiring and trade for a long term deal of a guy who is gonna suck or be hurt all the time! We should have kept Austin and let him expire!

The fact that the Pacers went after Al Jefferson despite his contract should be a tall tale sign that one of the Pacers shopping list items is a MAJOR acquisition at PF.

Three names come to mind: Glen Davis, Carl Landry, and Marc Gasol.

Two of which are unrestricted.

I would LOVE Marc Gasol or Carl Landry.

while I'm sure you meant to type "tell tale," reasoning from a "tall tale" as in a rumored trade can lead to false conclusions. we don't know if we went after Jefferson at all. we just know there was an internet rumor about the possibility.

my personal guess is that this year's shopping list begins and ends at point guard although if someone makes us an offer we can't refuse for a power forward we might take it. I don't think that will happen with Jefferson.
