Comparing Granger

It’s become pretty popular around Pacers Nation to bash Larry Bird. Feel free to rip the guy for certain things.
It should be noted, however, that the Danny Granger extension was handled about as perfectly as a negotiation can go, and the result is that the Pacers star player is now one of the best values in the entire NBA. In no way is that more apparent than if you compare Danny’s deal to that of some of his peers — particularly two deals that just occurred.
Joe Johnson for $119 million over six years in Atlanta.
Rudy Gay for $82 million over five years in Memphis.
Danny Granger for $60 million over five years in Indiana.
Andre Iguodala for $80 million over six years in Philly in 2008.
Luol Deng for $71 million for six years in Chicago in 2008.

I like Rudy Gay a lot but to make $22 million moe than Danny is insane. I think Rudy is just a bit less valuable than Danny he just needs to take that next step in All-star territory, so I could see similar money. $22 million more though is a joke.
