http://www.nba.com/pacers/news/stephens ... 00722.htmlThe Indiana Pacers announced Thursday they have signed second-round draft pick Lance Stephenson to a multi-year contract.
Per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Stephenson, a 6-5, 210-pound guard, was the 40th overall pick in June’s NBA Draft.
The 2010 Big East Rookie of the Year from Cincinnati recently played for the Pacers’ summer league team in Orlando where in four games he was the Pacers’ second-leading scorer at 14.8 ppg.
He also led the eight-team league in field goal percentage at .733 (22 of 30) of those players with 10 or more field goal attempts, earning all-league honorable mention honors.

You would have thought though that they would have signed him and Magnum at the sane time

I believe the team signed Stephenson at a perfectly
sane time. They might wait until things are pretty crazy to sign Magnum though.

Good to hear. Now lets just bring in Jamaal Tinsley to mentor him.

With Lance on board what does the roster count stand at?
Do we have enough room for Magnum?
The way he played in the summer league and from hearing the coaches reports he does deserve a contract with the pacers and I hope he is signed.

While we're at it let's also trade for Stephen Jackson and Ron Artest to solidify team chemistry and act as role models for our young core

Good Idea! JO can come back too. He is healthy for about 8 games a year, as long as he is getting 20 mil a year

Multi-year contract...to second-round pick who has yet to play an actual NBA game...
I hope they don't "James White" him before Opening Night.
(No, I don't think they would really do that.)

As a Brooklynite I can tell you guys have gotten have absolute steal in Stephenson. The kid can play and I think being a second round pick will motivate him.
Does anyone know what the terms of the contract are as far as years / options / money?

I'm assuming the deal is somewhat similar to the contract AJ Price got last year, first year being guaranteed while the 2nd year is a team option. Mostly likely just a little above the league minimum for a rookie scale contract.
EDIT:
just found a link with more details about the deal
http://www.zagsblog.com/2010/07/22/pace ... year-deal/The deal includes two years guaranteed and two years at a team option, a Pacers source said.
Stephenson will earn over $700,000 the first year and over $800,000 the second. Incentives could bump that up $100,000 annually.

Similar to a late first. I like the team options in the 3rd and 4th yrs.

He should be a SG, right? And IMO I dont think he can get any meaningful minutes behind Dunleavy/Rush/Jones.

whew. you never know with 2nd rounders. and you never know with larry bird. i wouldn't have been surprised if we let him walk the way things have been going. now just got a hold our breath for him not screw up a trade.

I'm not sure if I or someone else posted this already (sorry), but here's some video of Lance talking about running the point for the Pacers in summer league and playing for Larry Bird:

no, he's going to get every chance to make it as a big PG. that was his high school position although apparently not his regular position and Cinci.
