Is Danny Granger untouchable?

I'm not a huge Pacers fan, but Granger is one of my favourite players and I don't understand why Indiana would want to move him. I've heard his name come up a few times but nothing substantial. How do Pacers fans really feel about him? Is he your #1 guy for the future, or would you be happy if the team moved him for a few pieces?

Pacers fans on this board treat him as untouchable. He's more untouchable than guys like Gerald Wallace and Andre Iguodala and Al Jefferson. He's currently in the same "untouchability" category as Melo, Paul Pierce, and Brandon Roy.

He is untouchable to us. To other teams fans, he is a player who puts up good numbers on a bad team and Indiana should move him while his value is high. 95% of those people have probly never seen him play.

No one is untouchable.

D. Granger and TJ Ford in a trade for Carmelo Anthony.

That makes no sense for the Pacers.

1. We would be even worse off at point with just Lance while Price is injured.

2. Carmelo would opt out and leave.

I don't really like the idea of trading Granger. Getting ending contracts is pointless with all the expiring the Pacers already hold. I wouldn't even rush to trade him for a young big since two of the few guys worth overpaying in free agency next summer seem to be bigs (Horford and Marc Gasol).

If trading Granger and whoever else can grab two really solid young starters (Ariza + Brooks, for example), that might be worth looking into, but the trade would definitely have to look pretty solid for it to make sense for the Pacers. The Clippers could make for an interesting trade partner though. An Eric Gordon, George, and Kaman trio could be alright if possible. Not sure how high you guys are on Hibbert though.

Unless George shows immediate signs of being ready to start early, I'd probably just hold onto Granger and maybe even shop George if he doesn't fit as a 6th man / potential starter at SG.

No, Danny's not untouchable... there's only about 4 or 5 guys like that in the L... and even they can be traded under certain circumstances.

Danny may not be in the top 5 but he's in the top 25. we're not trading him without getting back a big name star with a fair contract or multiple first round picks. that probably makes him untouchable for practical purposes.
