Pacers after Louis Amundson

Post#1 » by Grang33r » Wed Aug 18, 2010 3:23 pm

Marc Stein is reporting that Indiana is one of 2 or 3 others teams that are after power forward Louis Amundson.

It appears, though, that Amundson’s wait might finally be ending. Sources close to the situation say that the 6-foot-9, 225-pounder is inching closer to a decision, with at least three teams known to be actively in pursuit – Golden State, New Orleans and Indiana. One source says an unidentified fourth team remains in the mix.

Another source told ESPN.com that the Hornets and Warriors are making the hardest push, but the Pacers have not been shy about their need for another big man after using Troy Murphy’s expiring contract last week to help facilitate the four-team traded that netted the point guard Indy has long coveted in Darren Collison

I would rather sign Rolle.

Louis averaged 5 pts/4.5 rbs in about 15 mpg last season. He is 28 y.o.

Blah-blah-blah

This time I am rooting for NO or GS.

Surprised PHX hasn't resigned, I thought they loved him but maybe they lack space with their new signings. :dontknow: But yeah I'd rather have Rolle too if we are going to free up a roster spot.

Don't we have too many players already? We need to move TJ and one of our Wing players.

I don't like it, I mean, not Amundson, but the idea of signing him.

Amundson is a good player with lot of energy. He is very effencient on grabbing offensive rebounds, which reminds the Pacers fan of Jeff Foster when he was young. In the game when Granger buzzer beated the Suns 2 seasons before, Amunson grabbed 10 off rebounds in the first half!

However, since we've already had to make a room signing Rolle, and both McBob and Hansbrough could be the hustle guy in the future, I don't think the Pacers should go after Amundson, especially we have the chance land some big free agents at PF next summer, such as Zach Randolph, Al Horford, Noah, and Tyson Chandler.

We are at 15 right now which is the limit. We gotta move at least one player to sign Rolle

I don't think Amundson is the best fit...he's basically the same player as Hansbrough, Foster, and McRoberts. I'd rather go after Landry, Thompson, or J. Hill.

They've just invested pretty significant money in Warrick and Frye, and Clark and Lopez will get more minutes this year so it's not a big surprise to me that his services aren't that important to them.

Oh yeah I forgot about Clark. And they drafted Lawal too.
Tough to find many minutes behind Turkyglue and Warrick even if Hedo plays some 3.

Kind of. But, how durable will Hansbrough be next season? Will he even play?

Louis Admundson is about as much to our rebuilding at PF than Jordan Farmar would have been at PG... I got the same kind feeling when i saw the headline. Sorry, but i'm passing on this guy, no matter how solid a contributor he can be. We already have solo to eat junk minutes and fill in the gaps.

Have to wonder if the Pacer's interest in Amudson is an indication that Hansbrough isn't ready to play yet. If you knew you could count on Tyler there would be no reasnn to persue Amundson.

No thank you. I hope this stays a rumor and nothing more. Give the spot to Rolle!

I'm cool with going after Amundson on some small contract, especially if you think you can move Foster in a deal to get you a long-term answer somehow, or you still have questions about Hansbrough and his ear/vertigo/concussion issues.

Yeah, he's more of a known quantity than any of Hansbrough, McRoberts, Rolle or S. Jones and its hard to imagine he'd be very expensive. At this point I'd guess the Pacers will be buying out Ford and waiving S. Jones. They may have resolved themselves to that already.

I think they'll find a way to create a roster spot without eating contracts particularly Solo's. I can see them doing whatever it takes to get TJ out of the locker room though.

If it's not a big money contract, I think he'd be a solid pickup. He doesn't give you much of anything offensively outside solid screening and putbacks, but he's very solid defensively and is an asset on the glass. He's unlike Hansbrough in that he has very little offensive moves (an area I think Hans is pretty skilled), and he's a better rebounder.

Amundson is not much better than McRoberts or Hansbrough. IMO I think McBob and T are better, I wouldn't get this signing.
