NBA.com predicts three PFs who could be dealt this season...

A writer on NBA.com theorized that PFs Jason Thompson of Sacramento and Jeff Green of OKC could be dealt this season (also Andrei Kirilenko since he's kind of one of those combo-PFs.)

Assuming we would include one of our many wing players in any deals, looking over the rosters of those three teams, it seems like Sacramento needs wings the most. Right now, they only have Omri Casspi who had a decent rookie year and behind him are Donte Green and Francisco Garcia.

Same deal with Oklahoma City. After Kevin Durant, not much by way of small forwards. With the salary cap flexibility, we might have the room to sign Jeff Green to the bigger contract he'll soon be looking for after we got him.

But with Indy's big void at PF, anybody think any of these three could wind up a Pacer?

I'd love either Green or Thompson. As for AK47 he is more of a defensive minded SF in my opinion, and we already have one of those in Dahntay Jones.

I'm not sure what type of deal either of those teams would go for because I don't know much about their current rosters.

Jeff Green would be my first choice out of those three. I would love to see Hoyas reunited in Indy.

I love Jeff Green as a player, but i would very much doubt the Pacers would have much interest. IMO, he's a small forward in the right situation. When the Thunder played in last years playoffs, their main weakness against Lakers was they got dominated on the boards by the big men of the Lakers. Green is a very good player, very good scorer, but for a team in desperate need of a power forward with a force, i don't think he'd be a good fit. We would have a lot of match ups problems during the weaker teams in the regular season but we would find out that it'd a flaw when we play the better teams in the league.

I would love a Jason Thompson though. I think he's proven enough in this league to make you think he can be somewhat special, and is still pretty raw.

And like kdawg said, not a fan of AK47 for the reasons he stated.

^ I'm with you, Jason Thompson is the one who intrigues me. While I haven't seen him play all that much, he seems like the kind of big, physical power forward I think we need. I'm still holding out a little hope, though, that Hansbrough can be that guy.

Can someone post a link to the nba.com story? I don't see it when I go to their site.

I agree with those about Jeff Green. He's obviously a good player and worthy of starting, but he's undersized and even like the writer of the article mentioned, he'd be a small forward on any other team if not for Kevin Durant.

I agree about Jason Thompson. I think he's underrated and could really see him getting ousted from Sacramento. The Kings are already pretty big at the PF/C position with Omri Casspi, Hassan Whiteside, DeMarcus Cousins, Carl Landry, and Samuel Dalembert. And most of those are new additions, only one of them (Casspi) was on their opening day roster last year. So all that makes me think that Thompson is on the trading block. And since Sacramento might like some wing players and/or expiring contracts to continue and build around Tyreke Evans, I could see Mike Dunleavy maybe included in a deal.

He averaged 12.5 and 8.5 last year, a little under what Murphy did statistically last year with 14.5 and 10. Plus, Thompson is in his 3rd year of his rookie contract, so he's still a fairly cheap salary. And if he doesn't work out, he's off the books for another year after this next one. And if he does work out, GREAT.

That's why of those three guys, I'm thinking Thompson may be the most realistic target.

We need good rebounding and defense at th 4, while they are nice players, none of them scream ideal fit to me.

Of all those four guys, i like Thompson the most. Not really excited if that happens though.

Thompson all the way. If the Collison trade had already occurred by draft day, I wonder if the Pacers would have been willing to move the pick for Jason Thompson/something(that 2nd rounder?). Based on their trades (Dalembert) and drafting (Cousins, Whiteside) it seems that Thompson may be the odd man out.

I don't know if we have the pieces to get Thompson though.... What does Sacramento need? They've got their big men, they've got wings (Evans, Casspi) so really they need a PG - preferably a defensive minded/shooting classic PG, since Evans does a lot of the ball handling. But I don't see that guy anywhere to be had, so.... They probably would want a pick.

Or just wait one year for Erazem Lorbek

As much as I'm intrigued to see if we can get Lorbek to come over next season and be productive, I just don't think it's a wise idea to play out a full season with this current big man rotation.

If it happens, I hope I'm wrong.

I think there are big chacnes that he will decide to join the NBA next season..
And yea, you are correct with your opinion about the current frontcourt rotation :)

You dont want Green, unless Hibbert makes the leap in terms of anchoring the defense. Green is a pretty poor rebounder, isn't a threat to block a shot and his outside jumper which he loves is inconsistant (and I really like Uncle Jeff- just being honest about his abilities)

To really excel at PF he needs a Blocking rebounding centre to cover for his inadequacies.

He is better suited to playing SF

If I were you guys and was trying to get a PF off that list, I'd be going to Thompson. - He's under-rated a fair bit IMO - might be had for cheap (relative to Green)
