Knicks 1st rd pick?

I saw the wiretap on this and was reminded of the earlier rumor about the knicks trading randolph to the pacers. Wondering if this is the possible trade for the 1st rounder? Maybe Donnie is getting desperate to see Melo on his team and not someone elses. If so love to have another guy challenge TH for the starting job.

Problem is we have no roster spots open.... Im up for it if we can find a way to sign Rolle as well and get rid of TJ or Solo or McBob

Waive em farewell. Not like they're going to be the future at PF or even the back-up PF. IF this was a possibility (which the knicks said it wasn't) then you would be looking at a Randolph, Hans, Rolls rotation and IMO that's perfect for the now and going into the future. Just my opinion. Don't think the knicks are there quite there yet though. If things go south during the season I see more of a possible deal at the deadline

Exactly! Ford is in his final year anyway, just let him go, sure, we would still probably have to pay him but he wont play much anyway. McBob sucks period, just like Solo. We can get by with Tyler, Foster, Rolle, Hibbert and possibly Randolph at the 4/5 for a year til we get cap room to bring someone better in.

^^^ So you want to trade a first for Randolph, until we can bring in someone better? If it is only a year, than why waste the first?

Now if you want to trade the first for AR because you believe he would be a big part of our future, than you have an argument. Even though I disagree.

It could kinda work both ways. If Randolph looked long term, great. If he didn't look great, he has a low level contract for 2 more years and is still young and enticing to other teams or learn and grow here. He can't be worse than McBob (god love him) or Solo (god help him). Never the less, you'd be getting the kind of draft pick we'd be looking at next year anyway. You know the 15th-24th pick kind of guys... AKA- A young big who has the "upside" to potentially fill the spot outright or spend time learning and growing within the system. "He could be special."

Anyhow, AR looks like a more calculated risk IMO. He has already made a name and has people talking. Plus, with the way Bird has drafted I can't imagine that he is gonna knock it out of the park with the draft pick, and for some reason I can see Bird loving Kyle Singler... Ewwwww

You're right. I can't believe Bird is always drafting those kind of guys like Paul George and Lance Stephenson.

The pick could be valuable, might not be. I'm one who would like Randolph here, but I guess I'd like my cake and to be able eat it too. By that I mean possibly waiting closer to the deadline before we shop it.

In that 15-24 range BigDawg mentioned, we got Roy & Danny. Collison was drafted in that range too.

Randolph is so overrated on here it isn't even funny. He was one of three pieces GS gave to get a real PF. He is always hurt ( playing in 96 out of 164 possible games), and hasn't averaged more than 23 mpg.

According to reality, AR's value is similar to Brandon Rush, in that they both put-up average numbers on bad teams.

I'd save the first, and only trade it if it was going towards a quality player. As Gremz alluded to, trading our pick at the deadline is a better idea.

You never know what ATL might be willing to do over the course of this season. The organization has stated that Horford will play the 4 a little more exclusively this season. Where does this leave JSmith?

At some point I'd certainly like to be standing there with a 1st, useful expirings & Brandon 'Blueberry Kush. They can have Solo back too.

And Magnum too. I like him. There also a Shawne Williams and James White draft too. So let's not just look at this one draft as Birds superior draft abilities. I'm not saying Bird is a bad drafter and I am not saying that he is a good drafter. This has been the only draft he's had that i've been excited about. I just like my chances with Randolph, and don't believe you're gonna get some greater level of talent in the next draft.

I think we should see how Hansbrough/McBob (Rolle and Solo also) do and reassess where we are. Hansbrough can contribute. He has more size and strength than Randolph, and gets after the boards much more. He also has a better motor. If he shows that he can start over a seasoned vet like Foster, we may be better of using the pick to package with an expiring to get some names into Indy.

Basically, I think the 1st can be used in part of something that puts us in a position to get a bigger name, proven young PF (Horford comes to mind).

I can see us giving up next year's first in order to get the right four, but does either NY or Denver have what we want?

Anthony Randolph. I think Pacers would give a 1st and then some to get him.

Randolph is currently playing more like a SF than ever before... Pacers would be wise to stay away from him.

^^^ Thank you..

He offers nothing in the blocks and his preseason stats suck. He is the type of player that will get overpayed off hype alone.
