Pacer's Vegas Line - Over or Under?

Post#1 » by IrishLuck31 » Wed Oct 20, 2010 6:54 pm

Vegas is putting our season win line at 32.5. Seems pretty fair considering a lot of the uncertainty around our roster, but I wanted to see what you guys thought?

Personally I would definitely take the over. I don't think we are going to get to 40 wins, but I think 34-37 is fairly likely. We will have bad stretches and losing streaks, but I definitely see us putting together several different stretches of good play, and in a weak Eastern conference (other than top 3), that might be good enough to get us to 36-38 wins and even possibly a 7 or 8 seed.

I think you're being conservative, but as I post every year around this time ... if you can't be an optimist before the season begins, what's the point of being a fan.

Idk how many wins we will have, all depends on if we stay healthy and if we can figure out our PF situation but I really think we will be a playoff team

On his podcast, Simmons breaks down the vegas lines for all the teams, and he and his buddy both felt this one was pretty accurate, but they kind of agreed on the under. McRoberts is our starting PF, Granger had kind of an off-year and bad situation with team USA. Collison might have a sophomore slump.

But they also pointed out that there's a lot of other bad teams in the east too - cavs, raps, nets, wiz, bobcats, philly, detroit. So a lot of it will come down to whether we give up games to the bad teams who we should be able to beat.

It really depends on which Pacer team shows up. If it is the competitive bunch that won 10 of 12 to close last season, then by all means I am all over the over. I really feel like 32-33 wins is a worst-case-scenario, if injuries take their toll.

The improvement at both guard spots is worth 4-5 wins alone, and I think that line is underestimating Roy's breakout season.

If we stay relatively healthy this team can win atleast 43 games.

Also, the fan support I have witnessed is increasing. Maybe it is due to their 'Protect the Promise campaign, or their promising rookie draft class, who cares. What is important is that we turn Conseco back into a feeding frenzy, and I think we're headed in the right direction because attendance will finally stop declining.

It'll be important to set the tone early, and if the players perform, the mob will grow. Home-court advantage can be huge, but it is up to the fans to provide it.

Legler placed us in the bottom 3, but he does that every season.

Stupid question....but I'm going to Vegas in a month....is there any Casino that you can actually go to bet on the over/under of how many games a Team will win?

I usually only find "Odds to win the Championship"....but never find any "over/under" on wins for a season.

I wouldn't mind betting $50 on the Pacers winning 33+ games to go "over" on that line.

to me that's an argument for the under. I forgot how many of last year's wins were accumulated at the end. my view from section 19 was that we weren't playing better. the other teams were playing worse. many opponents had stopped trying to defend which was good for us because we couldn't defend even when we were trying.

How are the bobcats at all a bad team?

I think we'll get exactly 32.5 wins.
