I think this player would be ideal to us.
Darren Collison/TJ Ford
Mike Dunleavy/Paul George
Danny Granger/Brandon Rush
Jason Thompson/Tyler Hansbrough
Roy Hibert/ Josh McRoberts
10 man-rotation
Dahntay Jones may be of interest to them + 2ยบ round

Re: Jason Thompson
He's not doing too well this season. He's only shooting 37% from the field. Of course, consistent minutes would help. If all we had to give up was Dahntay and a 2nd, it would be magical.

Give them a 7th, too, so they can draft a punter.

No way. You can get steals in the 7th. Maybe I would add a season ticket. Maybe.

It can't be a Pacers season ticket because those have 0 trade value.

They are like Josh McRoberts. We love them, but nobody else does.

Re: Jason Thompson
I've been looking around for a young 4 with good size and athleticism, a defensive mind set and potential to improve. Someone who can play minutes at the 5 if necessary. Someone we wouldn't have to spend a big piece for. JT was and is my choice.
Go get him

Re: Jason Thompson
Play him like Foster for now. Work him on D, tell him basically to board, block, and pass. I think in the right environment and consistent minutes he could be a nice complimentary player in our line up.
And his price is pretty good now I would think.

I'd give Rush and a second or D Jones and a later 1st for him.

^^^ Haha yeah. How about we offer Solomon Jones, Dunleavy, Dahntay, a 1st round and...the guarantee that all of our players will name their first-born after Minny GM David Kahn?

Re: Jason Thompson
One strong game doesn't change my mind about paying big for guys who play poor D.
Love would be an ugly fit between Roy and Danny.
Exactly what we don't need is another guy resting until he can get back on O.
Pacers PF needs:
Strong rebounder.
Nasty attitude.
Strong or very athletic.
Discourages drives to the bucket.
Can play the 5.
Can make his living on put backs and hustle.
Good passer.
Potential for a mid range game or strong drive.
Think Dale Davis, a pre-injury Kenyon Martin, Charles Oakley.
Take away the threat of constant drives to the hoop and the perimeter D becomes much easier.
Everyone has less foul trouble.
The OTHER team become the chuckers.
The attitude rubs off on his team mates! That is what we may be missing most of all.
I don't know if JT can be that guy, but he (unlike Love) more fits our needs and our budget.

Re: Jason Thompson
^^^ Based on your criteria, are you thinking Nene? Your criteria screamed Carl Landry until I got to the part about playing the 5. Landry is only 6'9" and undersized for that.
Nene has the ability to opt out of his contract (which I could see when/if Melo moves.) Nene can rebound, defend, play both post positions and score, yet you don't have to necessarily draw up any plays for him. And he's still pretty young. I think he's only 28 or 29 now.

Re: Jason Thompson
The list is ideal., hard to get everything you want in one player. Horford was perfect, Nene comes pretty close.
You're two choices are both very good I think.
I wanted Nene on the cheap when he was just coming back. I think he and Hib would be pretty strong and Tyler would be a great energy guy to handle the tweeners. I wonder about Nene handling starters minutes. Would bring some experience and strength to our front court. we could - big up against anybody or he could replace hib and play with either tyler or bob. If he were available I'd be interested. How is his mobility these days?
Carl is good and I think would give us a very active and tougher minded front court than we have now. We would be a little small, and if we had him i would think Tyler is expendable. We'd still be short a back up 5. When we get the back up 5 then he may fit well with Carl and Hib and make Josh expendable. If we can get him as a free agent I'd be pleased but we would have to make more trades.
Thompson fits well at the 4-5 like Nene. He is young, and healthy. Hasn't shown his best yet but did pretty well when he has minutes. I wonder about his determination. A year of summer work outs with Hibb and a few punches in the mouth to get his blood up and he might be awesome... maybe. He may just be hangin' out eatin' hohos for all I know. I'd definitely be willing to trade a spare wing for him though or a mid round pick.
We only need two pieces if we do it right, and we may already have at least one of them.
1. A bad azz in the front court, I don't care much about his points.
2. An all round 2 guard that fits well between Granger and Collison - with
solid D and an offensive game that doesn't require him to dominate the ball. A catch and shoot guy or a mobile driver. I'd love Iggy for this spot if he could be had reasonably. Maybe George or Stevenson or Rush can be that guy. I am pretty patient.
P.S.We need the entire team to really commit to become every play defenders. That takes experience, confidence, attitude, pride. That will likely take a new coach.

Re: Jason Thompson
Nene's mobility looks pretty good. He's coming off a minor groin issue, but he's still looked good the past couple games. I feel he's a more stocky version of Horford. But with Nene in the rotation, If Indy wanted to go big and beefier - Roy and Nene. If they wanted to go smaller and leaner (and whiter) - McBob and Tyler. And yes, experience would be nice. Of the main rotation, only Posey has legit playoff experience.
And I really think Rush can be that wing guy you're talking about. Solid defender and rebounder, now just needs to work on his consistency on offense. But both him and George can player either wing position which is nice and who knows - maybe Stephenson or a future player will work into the second backup wing spot.
Indy will have a lot of playmaking ability with Danny, Roy, DC and even George when given the chance. If Nene can be there to help defend on the post, get his points off the glass, and create extra possessions, that will be a HUGE plus.

Atlanta rejected a trade with King, the trade was basicly Jeff Teague for Jason Thompson so if Pacers would send AJ Price and Dahntay Jones to Sacramento, Would agree Kings this?

The gap between Jeff Teague's value and the value of a package of AJ Price and Dahntay Jones is extremely wide.
I can't imagine Sacramento wanting a package that didn't have at minimum a mid to late 1st round value. AJ Price and Dahntay Jones is nowhere near that.

If Sac doesn't want Price/Jones for Thompson then how how about either or both Indy players in a deal involving Brandan Wright?
