Right now I agree. Would be nice to shop the 13th, 14th and 15th men with some success, but we're at the least competing with some top notch teams.
If it ain't that broke then why change the paint colour.

I think we are willing to part with the following
Solo, Dahntay, Mikey D and Posey. This is not an exhaustive list but probably they are our top shipping candidates. Apart from Posey and Mikey D, I don't think a trade for the other two would affect our chemistry

Re: Pacers not looking into trades right now (with article)
Not surprised. Just because they are not openly looking to trade doesn't mean they are not keeping an open ear. It's late November, not even Thanksgiving yet. Teams are all in the same boat as we are for the most part, not sure what exactly they have and are sitting on their hands. The teams that do end up making trades right now are desperate teams and teams who are desperate usually make bad trades. You have to want to make a trade, not make a trade for sake of making a trade.
The other thing is, the most valuable piece Indiana has to offer is the 1st round pick. But, i don't even know if our own brass knows if we'll be a playoff team or a team back in the lottery?

Last time we openly stated we were looking to trade, we sat on the guy for 2 months (Ron Artest), and the last time we stated we weren't looking to trade, we pulled off an 8 man deal with Golden State for Troy and Mike within a week.
It's all a ploy, and doesn't mean jack, either way.

Right. You can include Tinsley and Ford to that too.

Is there anyone available that can really help us? Maybe we can trade a spare part like a Dahntay Jones for a decent talent big, but other than, I'm not seeing it. Things could change come the trade deadline however.

That's the thing, the Pacers don't to make any moves right now and can just wait until anything potentially opens up. I think the only position we can all agree on them improving on is at power forward but they are not in a position where they must go out and make a desperate move to get a big if they don't think he's a franchise type player. Despite not playing too well tonight, Josh McRoberts played a very good 4th quarter and is a great hustle guy, Hansbrough has his ups and downs. Solo Jones had a career high in rebounds tonight and if Jeff Foster can come back healthy, he would give us a spark and improve rebounding and block shots.

Re: Pacers not looking into trades right now (with article)
Well, I'm sure we'll shop our expirings to some degree, and a deal involving Dahntay Jones wouldn't be too hard to convince us to do.
Ford, Dunleavy, and Foster are all playing well for us, and contributing well, but we have to think long term about our young team, and if a move comes up near the deadline where we get good value for Ford or Dunleavy, we can't be shortsighted and refuse it because they are helping us win at the moment.
I mean, remember how we felt about TJ last year? he's in a contract year, so he's playing great, and if we have a chance to get something for him, we should. Same with Dunleavy, and to a lesser degree with Foster.
I'm sure we're not super-actively scouring every trade opportunity, but i guarantee Larry will make some calls around the deadline.

Re: Pacers not looking into trades right now (with article)
the same hoops world site has a TJ article saying we can't afford to trade him.
http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=17970
I continue to favor simply letting the expiring contracts expire although I'd certainly trade a Jones. Hibbert, Rush, and Collison will all eat into the cap room savings before too long.

Maybe there is not a trade brewing, but Ford and Dunleavy are nevertheless doing a nice job of trying to restore their trade value.

Re: Pacers not looking into trades right now (with article)
I kind of think that the Pacers are hoping to get a sniff of what's happening with the CBA. There has been talk of a hard cap. If that happens, teams will have to look at their rosters and cut guys from their squads to bring salary down. Anyone under the hard line could be in a good position to sign all of the guys spinning off of other teams.
I do hope that if they have a chance at a decent playoff spot they're willing to bring in a veteran frontcourt player to pair with Roy.

If they try and institute a hard cap, look for a multi-year strike to take place. That'd be a LOT for the union to agree to.

Sacramento looking for a PG. Ford for Thompson anyone?Would certainly solidify your weak spot (PF) and help Hibbert on the glass. Price is solid enough to handle 14minutes a game anyways. It'd also give Collison more time which is good because he is on my fantasy team.
