Nene?

Hey fellow Pacers fans!
Since Melo's going to be leaving Denver, I have a feeling Nene will jump off the sinking ship too. Nene's adapted to a playing like a center, but e's an original power forward. He can score well, he'll rebound at an average rate and will be able to do the PNR with Collison and O'Brien, and he's the best locker room guy around. He's a true warrior, playing well after knee surgery and battling cancer! He's 28 now, so he's not exactly ancient.
Is he worth it?

We wouldn't mind having him.

As long as we dont overpay him or give to much up, sure

Anything reasonable that excludes Collison, Granger, and Hibbert deserves a look. If he terminates, I would throw a contract at him, although it's very likely some team is going to overpay for a big like him.

No. He deserves 10 mil. 5 mil is the MLE.

What does that mean? He's getting 11 million and if he opts out of 11 mil for the next season, he expects to get a better contract.

I think Nene would be a great fit for us.
He can split time at the 4 or 5, and can spell Hibbert when he sits. He can defend, hit the glass, create second possessions, and score all while not really having to draw up many plays for him.
Targeting guys like Jeff Green or Carl Landry might be a shade younger and have more of an offensive arsenal, but Nene is a VERY intriguing player for Indy.

Nene's short term I'm guessing, I like Green too. Sadly the man is average at everything and not elite at something.

^^Isn't that the kind of PF we're looking for, though?

A PnR big that plays D? There's such a thing? I'll take it.

I mentioned Nene in my "unconventional PF targets" thread.
http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1066904He makes a lot of sense for the reasons chube spelled out above. I also think he plays very well within a team system, doesn't force shots, and would be just as happy playing good D and rebounding as he woudl be scoring 25 points.
He and Tyson Chandler are sort of my ideal targets - big, strong, rebounding and defense, can play both PF and C.

If NBA is going to lock out next season, I don't think Nene will opt out his contract.

Nene is averaging less than one block per game this season (.8), and for his career (.9).
His career rebounds per is a paltry (6.8), he is averaging (.4) less this season.
His career ppg is (12).
I'd save the loot for Roy. Larry should give Roy 5yr/60 mill asap.
The best PF you'll find in that ten million range is from Marion, IN. Not saying that we'd sign him, but personally I'd rather sign him over Nene, if we had to choose between the two.

But he's a little older and also a little bit more of a locker room problem.

You've stumped me... Who?
By the way, Nene's hands in the lane are a much better asset than his timing. He's a stealer, not a blocker. He disrupts a lot of offensive schemes with his quickness in the lane. Fun player to watch.

Zach Randolph is never an option for this team.
I'm not a huge fan of Nene either. Then again, I don't get a chance to watch him a lot.

MNPacesrfan I am talking about Zach Randolph.
Reputation aside his skillset is exactly what we've been missing, which is a dominant interior offensive threat, to go along with elite rebounding.
I am not advocating signing Zach, but I would sign him before Nene.

Don't be too quick to shoot it down. I heard Larry loves him some Z-Bounds.
