Everyones thoughts on McRoberts?

I guess I could see this coming for awhile now.. And by this being sat down a game ( or however long it will be ) for how lazy he has gotten on defense and boxing out. It seems he fell in love with getting blocks which left his man open for rebounds and easy putbacks - He stopped boxing out completely leaving his man open for rebounds. And to top it off was only averaging around 3 rebounds per over the last 7-10 games ( was mentioned during a game ).
Edit : It was mentioned on the Celtics broadcast that he did not play because of his recent rebound problems. In the game thread I mentioned that he did not return to the sideline at the start of the second half. That could mean he was not feeling well or he was sulking. I never viewed McRoberts as a mentally strong player .. So I will be curious to see if he can come back from this.
It all seemed to go back to when Tyler fell out of the rotation.. I think McRoberts fed off of Hansbrough more than people think.
Right now I am also leaning toward the possibility that McRoberts will not be resigned if the Pacers are indeed going to try and get a high tier 4 for next season.
Anyone else want to give their thoughts?

I think you're spot on. Right when Posey became PF #2, McBob thought he was safe and the fire left his game. I hope he can wake up and keep his game up. We need consistency, especially during this rough patch.

My fellow Hoosiers.... Anyone remember when Luke Zeller beat McRoberts out for Indiana Mr Basketball? Correct me if I am wrong but didnt McRoberts skip the Indiana vs Kentucky series because he was mad he didnt win Mr Basketball???
If that was true, is it possible he isnt playing well because he isnt getting the minutes he thinks he deserves?

I like he McRoberts/Hansborough tandem at PF..earlier in the year we were getting 16/10 from them, which is good production from the four...I think they could do that consistently as a tag team...

For them, yes. But we need better

I think it's more of a fact that in the larger the sample size gets of McRoberts starting, we're starting to see more and more of his weaknesses exposed. The fact is, he's more of a backup forward than a starter.

This makes the most sense to me. We have generally been getting killed during this bad stretch by the lack of consistent rebounding. The match up at the 4 has been a bigger problem the last couple of weeks too. In my opinion this team needs defense and rebounding out of the 4 more than anything else. We just aren't getting that from McRoberts and Posey.

I think both McRoberts and Hansbrough suck. It's pretty clear to me, actually.

With the game tonight we will see if this was a 1 game thing to prove a point or if its going to an extended benching.

Compared to what we have had in the past, yes. We need a Dale Davis or JO type player. However, I still think its to early to say.

I don't think McRoberts or Hansbrough suck, as they are nice backup bigs to have on any bench. Problem is, we are relying on them to play starter's minutes, and they simply aren't that good.

Yeah that's pretty much it. I'd like them as hustle players except McRoberts doesn't do that. He sucks IMO. Hansbrough I'd like for a dirty work dude off the bench (just don't shoot)

According to the rumor at the time, yes, that is correct. The cover story was that Josh had to move to Durham early to start the summer early at Duke. However, no other Senior All-Star prior to then had to leave that early for summer school. It was a bit of a non-denial denial type situation.

The NBA.com recap says McRoberts didnt play because of a lower abdominal strain.. not sure if I buy that though. He got kneed in the nads a couple games ago but doesnt seem like a reason to miss 2 games over.

when both Foster and Posey are on their games, minutes for JMac and PsychoT are cut back.

I think McRoberts has earned the right to have a role on this team. He definitely provides nice energy. His role should consist of coming off the bench for 10-20 mpg, depending on his effectiveness. Whenever you expect someone to be a starter their abilities or lack of, become apparent sooner. Same thing happened when we expected Foster to be a starter, you can't fit a square peg into a round hole.
The problem with Foster is that last night was a flashback game. If he could do that consistently we'd be in great shape, but he won't.
Tyler Hansbrough is still our best option, unfortunately he is just a b/u too.

we have currently three good back up PFs.
One of two may eventually become an adequate starter but currently the spot narrowly outpaces the defense of large points as being our greatest weakness.

Obviously everyone needs to defer to you guys who actually watch the games, but all the fantasy owners including myself look at McRoberts' numbers and can't believe his numbers would not translate to him being at least a solid player.
The guy does near everything number wise (3s, rebs, assists, stls, blks) but maybe that is a product of O'Brien's system and somehow at the expense of helping the team. These players fascinate me, Dalembert seemed to be another when he was on Philly.

He was solid earlier, but as a fantasy owner, you should have noticed his dropoff recently, even before the DNP's.
