Welcome to the Pacers board, always nice to have another Indy fan. I don't know about starting quite yet, because I do like Rush's wing defense getting first crack at some of the elite wing scorers across the league like Kobe, Joe Johnson, Durant, and Wade. But PG could fit beautifully into a 6th Man role a la Jason Terry or Jamal Crawford. Automatic offense off the bench.

I just can't understand the system. I mean, I can deal with him coming off the bench but as for why he plays well for 10 minutes then gets benched for the rest of the game is beyond me.

 You've gone too far O'Brien!

there is an article in today's star quoting O'Brien as saying PG is about to push past Rush.

I think it might be part of a plan to trade Granger and start PGeorge at SF.

I think it's more likely they are trying to trade Dunleavy and TJ than Granger.

Looks like Paul George will be freed.

DENVER -- It's gotten to the point where it's not "if" Indiana Pacers swingman Brandon Rush will drift in and out, but a matter of "when."

Rush is currently in one of those moments and it appears it could cost him a spot in the rotation.

Pacers coach Jim O'Brien said rookie Paul George is close to bumping out Rush as either the first wing off the bench or the starting shooting guard, depending on the opponent.

"The decision that I have to make is when do I move Paul definitely in front of Brandon," O'Brien said. "That's coming if we keep getting sporadic play."

Inconsistency might as well be Rush's middle name because that's been his problem since the day the Pacers acquired him on draft night in 2008.

I wonder if this is JOB doing or if Bird started to hint.... also in this article it talks about Price taking over Ford at backup point guard.

^^^ I'm usually willing to give people the benefit of the doubt, but JOB's idiotic past as Pacers coach makes me think that he didn't have a sudden epiphany and come to his senses with this new rotations.

YES. I think we need to either start George, or make him the starters-minutes-6th-man guy.

Unfortunately, that will last 3 weeks at which point JOB will give him a string of DNP-CDs punctuated by one 8 minute performance.

i'm happy, but I'd rather have PG gets his minutes not at Rush's expense (although he's rightfully deserved the demotion as of late).

I think its time for PG to start also. It is definitely time for Dun out of the starting line up and backing up the 3 like he should have always been doing.

Do you think PG can stick at the 2 spot? Do you think he is the right fit next to DG? I would like to see someone who can handle the ball, drive to the basket, make plays for others. Thats the type of playr i want next to DG. Im not saying PG cant be that player I just havent seen it yet(which is why id like to see him start next to DG).

I think PG has just as much potential as guys like Favors and Cousins,W.Johnson and we got a real steal in the draft.

those of you in naptown should get "FREE PG" shirts printed up.....black with "FREE PG" in white block letters, maybe fire job on the back. get a section together for 1 game or something. i think you throw him in the fire and start him. rush and unleavy dont offer what PG can give defensively and offensively given opportunities they dont either. he was a lottery pick and the future of this franchise. the pacers arent going anywhere this year, let him make mistakes. if not starting he needs to be getting 30 minutes a night as a 6th man. had paul not been sitting in a suit most of the time he probably could challenge for ROY averaging 17 & 7. will he even get in the rookie/soph game now?

i feel PG will be the 2nd best player in this draft behind wall

He has a rebound, an assist, and 2 points in only a minute so far. Then drives to the rim and draws a foul on Howard. PG playin great so far.

He has been freed and I'm enjoying it so far. Playoffs or no, I'm more optimistic about the youth movement with OB out of the picture. I was just poking around and George is currently #2 among rookies in PER (way behind Griffin, but tops in this draft class). Here's the LINK, but I think it's insider only, so here's a top 10. I tried to clean up the table a bit, but I highlighted the PER since these things never come out well in cut-and-paste.

RK PLAYER GP MPG TS% AST TO USG ORR DRR REBR PER
1 Blake Griffin, LAC 47 37.6 .555 13.2 10.4 26.0 11.9 27.9 19.8 23.19
2 Paul George, IND 24 16.8 .578 10.8 8.8 17.4 3.0 16.3 9.7 16.63
3 Ed Davis, TOR 32 21.6 .586 6.3 7.8 11.2 13.0 21.2 16.9 15.95
4 John Wall, WSH 35 37.3 .489 32.8 13.2 23.6 0.9 11.9 6.3 15.48
5 Greg Monroe, DET 46 23.7 .535 10.1 11.5 13.3 12.9 19.6 16.1 15.11
6 DeMarcus Cousins, SAC 45 26.3 .479 9.9 14.4 26.1 10.6 23.2 16.7 14.85
7 Landry Fields, NY 47 32.1 .617 16.6 11.9 12.1 5.7 19.2 12.5 14.43
8 Tiago Splitter, SA 36 11.4 .538 9.7 12.0 15.9 9.2 16.5 12.9 13.71
9 Derrick Favors, NJ 48 19.3 .570 5.2 14.0 14.8 13.0 18.3 15.6 13.70
10 Trevor Booker, WSH 41 12.2 .567 6.8 13.0 13.3 10.5 14.1 12.3 13.09

PER isn't perfect, but it's nice to see that George is having so much success even in the limited time he's played thus far. Hopefully, his opportunities continue to grow.

He's also 4th in true shooting percentage. I like that metric, and he's done a good job of shaking off his early season nerves.
