ESPN Mock Draft: Pacers at No. 9

Post#1 » by OnFire » Wed Jan 26, 2011 4:05 am

ESPN's newly-released Mock Draft
has us at No. 9 as of the current
standings with odds of 1.7% to land
the No. 1 pick.

http://espn.go.com/nba/lottery2011/mockdraft

At No. 9, they're predicting we'll
take John Henson out of UNC.

The rest of the predicted lottery
picks are on the site.

At a time when Bird has made
it known he'd like to make a big
trade happen as the deadline
approaches, what do you think
can we get out of this?

Randolph from NYK? West on
an extend-and-trade with NOH?
It's reported that they're far
apart on an extension.

IND native Zach Randolph from
MEM? Greg Oden from POR?

How 'bout Love from MIN?
David Khan seems to be, uh,
in love, with lottery picks
anyway.

Other names? Or are we better
off waiting 'til the summer?

Or keep the pick altogether?

Personally, if that pick remains
as high as it is (hopefully not
since it'll mean we'll continue
to suck), I think we can get more
than A. Randolph from NYK as
has been rumored. Expirings
are also assets we have a lot of.

Possibilities abound. What's the
one you have in mind?

Holy crap, getting Kevin Love would be unbelievable! I know his defense can be suspect, but he's still a legit inside presence who can clog the lane on D and stretch the floor on offense. Plus, he can obviously rebound like a mother...

Could you imagine us getting Kevin Love? Heading into next year, our starting 5 would be Hibbert, Love, Granger, George, and DC, with Tyler, Brandon, and AJ being the first off the bench - the oldest of which (Granger) would be just 28 at the start of 2011-2012.

No way we can get Love unless we tangle Danny Granger out there.

As for the 9th pick, John Henson is at a position of need, but i'd prefer Josh Shelby if that is the way the draft plays out. A true scorer and a guy who will attack the basket, something this team lacks.

On Fire, I know that we can get more than Anthony Randolph. FYI.. in case you didn't know AR was a mid-first round pick, barely a lottery-pick. Everyone tries to make it seem like he was some high lottery pick, when the fact is he wasn't.

Regardless, his value certainly hasn't increased to the ninth pick.

Good call on the assets.

I want Sullinger or Kanter if we don't make the playoffs. Don't care how we get one of them either, trade up if need be!

A. Randolph is not better than what we can draft. Z. Randolph ... read Scoot's signature.

I hope we keep the pick but it looks like Bird is willing to deal it for an established starter.
