DC, PG, and T-BONE

Post#1 » by jnzook » Tue Feb 1, 2011 3:30 am

Personally I think DC is a lock to play on the sophmores team in the rookie-sophmore challenge...I cant think of another sophomore pg who starts, let alone is playing as well as collison...i think DC is a lock to make the team and should probably start(if im forgetting another pg who is doing better and/or starting let me know, all i can think of is lawson, who is playing well as a backup, but not near as good as DC)

PG has done well all year, when he got playing time, but has had steady playing time lately, and has been performing well...i think he has a good shot to make the team

T-BONE I think should make it, but JOB might have killed it for him, and not to mention he is a PF, and Griffin and Blair are beasts.

What do you all think?

And on a side note, do you think Granger gets back this year? Personally I don't, but he is having a better year all around than he did 2 years ago when he did make the team. Scoring is down a bit, but defense is better, rpg is up, and im pretty sure apg are up as well.

Collison will get there but might not start. I could see Tyreke Evans starting at the 2 on the sophomore team and Stephen Curry starting at the PG. Collison could likely be first off the bench though if Brandon Jennings' injury hasn't healed yet.

As for Tyler, he has an outside shot. His early-season benchwarming thanks to what's-his-face might have killed it like you said, but Blair I believe started at center in the game last year. Will Blake Griffin play for the Rookies or Sophomores? By NBA standards this year, he's a rookie, but I'm not sure if that game is decided by draft class.

George I think will get to the rookie team, but won't start. Like Tyler, his early season abscence hurt that, but I think he's made up enough ground quickly enough so that he'll get the nod. I actually see PG also making the All-2nd Rookie Team. Depends on what he does under Vogel, but he could crack the fifth slot for the All-1st Team, as Griffin, Wall, Fields, and Cousins are all locks. That fifth spot could be up for grabs between George, Ed Davis, Greg Monroe, Wesley Johnson, and Gary Neal.

wow...how i ever forgot about curry and jennings i dont know, lol, good point...evans i remembered, but i, like you and most of the world, consider him a 2 guard...jennings being hurt tho...and curry isnt really having a better year than dc statistically or record wise by team...so i think still dc has a chance to start, but def. first off the bench like you said.

as far as blake, im not sure how it works either, i know he is eligible for roy...but it seems like the rook-soph game would still be based on draft class...who knows...but id love to see him and pg in it, like i said i think pg and dc are prolly in, hans, prolly not.

and im with you, i think with the pt pg will get the rest of the year, he should easily make the 2nd team all rook...and possibly could get that 1st team....and you have to remember, they dont always name those teams by position only...it can be any combo of players, not just 1 thru 5...so that helps

Actually, I got to thinking more about the Rook/Soph game and Paul George actually might have a good chance at starting in it. As a Pacer, he drifts between the 2 and the 3 and the 3 is the only position that is wide open in terms of a Rookie game team starting 5.

C - Cousins
PF - Griffin (I guess, if not Greg Monroe or Ed Davis)
SF - WIDE OPEN
SG - Landry Fields
PG - John Wall

Now that I think about it, there's no definitive argument for guys like Gary Neal or Wes Johnson to start over Paul George in the R/S game. He might get the starting nod after all.

Griffin will be on the rookie team. Oden was. Holiday isn't better than Collison, but he could make it over him because he has better stats.

Totally forgot about Jrue Holiday. But one guy will be taking the place of Jonny Flynn, that much we know. And if Jennings is a no-go, then both will definitely make it...since Evans, Flynn, Curry, and Jennings all made the R/S game last year.

Granted, I'm biased. But I see Collison making it over Holiday if it comes down to one available roster slot. Maybe more on name and reputation alone?

Uh...look it up,Curry is around 19 pt per, over 42% from 3,over 6 assists..and in the top 5 in steals....DC really isn't very close in any of that. He should beat out Lawson who's played well but shared PG time with Billups as the backup PG.

Blake Griffin is a rookie but may be in the regular All Star game, not the frosh/soph game

I don't really care too much, but I did look it up because I'm a stickler for details and Collison shoots a better FG% and makes those numbers in 30 minutes to Holiday's 36. If Collison got those minutes, he'd be around 16 and 6 if we didn't adjust for fatigue.
