Hoopsworld Paul George
Some nice stuff about Paul George.
Cain in New Zealand:
Is there any chance the Pacers make a sizable deal by the deadline? How will the recent play of Paul George and Tyler Hansbrough effect trade talk?
Joel Brigham:
As for Paul George, they absolutely LOVE him out there. There aren't a whole lot of guys his size in the league that are THAT quick. He's a really humble, hard-working kid and I've heard smart folks say he could be the make-or-break guy for that Pacers team. Not Collison, not Hibbert, not Granger. Paul George. And the Indy higher-ups seem to feel the same way. They think he transforms into the guy that takes the last shot eventually, and on a personal level I don't know that there are many better kids in this rookie class from a personal standpoint. He's gonna be good. He really is.
The Wonderer in wondering...:
OK - with half the season behind us re-do this years draft - top 10 - not paying attention to teams/needs - simply proof was in the pudding.
Joel Brigham:
I'm skipping Blake since he was technically drafted in '09. As for the rest, here goes:
1. John Wall
2. DeMarcus Cousins
3. Landry Fields
4. Paul George
5. Greg Monroe
6. Gary Neal
7. Wes Johnson
8. Ed Davis
9. Derrick Favors
10. Evan

It would be pretty cool if we got a franchise player at pick 10. The more I see of our young guys its pretty hard to argue with Larry's drafting since 2008.

Paul George should have been picked higher, maybe at #4? The Pacers getting him later in the draft is poetic justice for not tanking last spring.

Nice analysis. We're just lucky he was somewhat hidden at Fresno St.

I think we all love Paul George and his upside...so what does that do for us?
Do we trade Granger to free up minutes...HIGHLY unlikely.
Can we move Dunleavy? Can we move Rush for any value? Do we move both?
Can George and Granger excel in the 2-3 spots?
In my opinion and in an ideal world we would deal:
any combination of Ford - Dunleavy - Rush - Foster - Hansbrough and Next years #1
to Portland for Aldridge and filler that isn't a TERRIBLE contract.
Collison - George - Granger - Aldridge - Hibbert
That would be a great starter 5 for many years to come.
Bench would be weakened, but less critical...Price / Jones / Posey / McBob / (Foster/Hans) / SJones POR filler

I remember watching the draft (at the time when I was pissed we picked PG because of needs, and I'm completely eating my words now) and during the post-pick analysis, somebody said that in 5 years, we could look back and say that PG was the best player in the draft. Ah, that'd be sweet!

This is why you draft high upside guys where the Pacers have been picking.

If it weren't for John Wall, his chances would be very good.

This list is absolute garbage.
Fields at 3?!
Favors at 9?!
Gary freakin Neal at 6?!

C'mon on son!
But this is nothing against Paul George, I loved this kid coming into the draft and his play in limited opportunity has me thinking the same.

There are only 4 players I would have taken over Paul George:
Wall
Favors
Turner
Cousins
I think he has a ton of upside and has more current skill then given credit for.
From July.
Good luck with him, wish Thorn could have figured a way to trade Devin for that 10th pick before you guys got Collison via Billy King's ignorance...

I would KILL to get LMA here to play PF next to Roy. That lineup is nasty.

Re: Hoopsworld Paul George
I can already see how it's going to play out.
We'll end up calling him "King George" as a kind of joking play on LeBron's "King James" nickname.
Eventually someone will start saying "The madness of King George" which was once a film. Like, PG will drop some monster game, then cap it with like an insane dunk, and the announcers will shout "The MADNESS of King George!!!"
So I propose we just start calling him by his new name, the best NBA nickname in a while.
The MADNESS.

Re: Hoopsworld Paul George
listened to the game on the radio today which I almost never do anymore. Mark and Slick were very high on PG saying he could be the best Pacer in all of Mark's days here.

Does Slick actually ever say anything? t seems like everytime I listened to them, he would make random sounds or yell boom baby.

I used to love listening to Mark and Slick off the NBA.com feed since it was free and I could get it at work, but the last couple seasons I've not been able to get it work properly down here in Aus

Slick used to say a bit, more at half time and such I think when there was a bit more time for him to say a complete sentence.

Slick's health has not been good. it's nice to see him well enough to do road games. yes, he cheer leads more than analyzes these days but he's earned that right.

Slick is an amazing guy, nice to see him still doing games even though he's been under the weather. If he just wants to sit there next to Mark saying "Boom Baby" he can!
