Change in Granger's play since coaching change.

Post#1 » by Indy2thaWindy » Sat Feb 5, 2011 11:25 am

This season under JOB Granger shot 5.2 free throws per game hitting 4.3 of them. That's 83%.

Since Vogel has taken over, I noticed Danny's been getting to the line more.

He's shot 9 free throws per game hitting 8.3 of them. That's 92%.

I know 3 games is a small sample size, but I hope he can keep this up. We all know when Granger's shot hasn't been falling he's pretty ineffective on offense. Now that he's been getting to the line, it gives him another way of scoring. The little difference it makes could turn a lot of would be losses into wins. I just hope he can keep it up.

I agre, nice to see DG create easy offense for himself. Like today, he went 5-13 but still had 25 thanks to FTAs. PG was the same, 1-6 but 6 pts b/c of FTs, love seeing them attack the rim hard.

Absolutely. Vogel did do a good job letting Hibbert, Collison and Hansbrough take part of offense. That relief Dunleavy and Granger's burden and can contribute their offense in a more efficient way.

Way to go, Frank!

I love it when Granger penetrates rather than pulling out and stroking it from long range. Dominique Wilkins' words, not mine.

he's driving more and not just settling for 3's. that's good. he needs to pass more but hopefully that'll come.

I really don't see him maintaining 9 a game.

i think he can achieve 7. Kobe is at 7.5, and if Granger drives as often, he'll start getting more calls his wawy.

Yeah but his handles really aren't anything like Kobe's, or Wade's, etc. But Gerald Wallace can't dribble very well and he drives okay, so maybe he's got a shot.

Granger has a better jumper which will force the defenders to play closer to him. He also has the advantage of facing teams 3 or 4 rahter than the quicker 1/2 that Wade and Kobe may face.

If he stays aggressive he can get to the line 6-8 times regularly...then it opens up more room for his jumper.

So far so good under Vogel...we will see how it goes when we face the Heat next week. And the Nets tomorrow.

I love to see DG drive the ball, but his ballhandling could use some work. Whenever he puts the ball to the floor I get nervous.
