So, according to CSNNE.com (via the RealGM Wiretap), Kendrick Perkins turned down a 4 year/$22 million deal. However, he would feel COMPLETELY different if it were a 4 year/$30 million deal.

Anyone else find that oddly soothing regarding possibly stocking up on a 3 or 4 VERY solid role players in an offseason with max cap space, but no max salary players? I'm thinking we could get a Kendrick Perkins to platoon with Hibbert, a Glen Davis to platoon at PF with Hansbrough, and someone else as well this offseason, in addition to our picks. Could be nice....

I'm scared of netting assets in the same fashion that Milwaukee and Detroit have recently. For those reasons I'd rather not grab a "bunch" of assets.

If Perkins could play 5-10 minutes a game at power forward. I'd give it to him. I think he's worth around 6-7 million a year. If it took an extra $2 million to bring him in I'd do it. I'd still go after West or Green and if we miss, then make an offer for Davis. I think he'll be back with the Celtics tho. I kinda feel the same with Perkins too. I don't see why they would let them go.

Problem for Boston is that he's an Unrestricted Free Agent this off season, so their hand might be forced. That's why they'll be pushing for the extension.

Milwaukee brought in two players who are known for losing. Definitely Maggette. Most teams would like to have Perkins. If Toronto has cap room next year I could see them making a push Perk. Who wants to play in Canada tho?

I'd love to get Perkins, he's a great option.

Perkins is great, but I do question his durability at this point.

Come now. We have to have faith that our front office wouldn't make terrible offers to horrible long-term options like Drew Gooden, or giving massive long-term deals to decent to good options that are replacable like Salmons.

Same for Gordon and Villanueva.

Obviously, I'm not up for "hoarding assets" that aren't useful, or are ridiculously overpaid like Milwaukee and Detroit have done. I'm up for signing solid players to solid contracts.

What scares me is that if they're worth that to one team, isn't it possible to make the same mistakes?

Anyway, I don't expect it but have been wary every since I found out Travis Outlaw was worth 35m.

BUT a few solid guys on solid deals I'm all for.

Perkins is one of the top centers defensively, so I wouldn't mind adding him. I wouldn't want to add both him and Glen Davis however. Both are solid, but the Celtics also have a future hall of famer in their front court in KG, we don't have that.

I can't picture Perkins playing the 4. And if he can't, either he or Roy are getting back up minutes. I'm not sure that makes sense. I too would be surprised if Indy was a distination for Perkins. If he left Boston I'd expect him to go to a place where he'd be the man at center.

Being way under the cap along with the new CBA could offer remarkable opportunities. Imagine a hard cap that demands some teams to shed players. Possible acquisitions could go well beyond the existing crop of free agents.

^^^ If Perkins leaves Beantown, I picture him going to Miami. They lack a good center and I even read an article recently linking the two.

Miami is likely to only have the MLE for many years to come, depending on the new CBA outcome. Perkins has already poo-pooed Boston's offer for being too low, and it's about the same as the MLE.

^^^ True, but I know that a handful of those supporting players Miami signed was for one or two-year contracts. Howard, Dampier, Magloire, Arroyo, Jones, and Chalmers all come off the books next year. I don't know how much it all adds up to, but Perkins could jump ship to a fairly young Miami team compared to a Boston team that age-wise, their window might be closing (Allen, Garnett, Pierce, and the O'Neals are all 34 or older by the time next season rolls around.) Plus, in Miami it's a huge party town and Florida has no state income tax. We've seen players already willing to make sacrifices to play in Miami, and Perkins could be one of them. Who knows.

Salary Cap is most likely coming down, while all of their contracts go up.

Wow, the Celtics sure are lowballing Perkins. I'm sorry, but in a league where guys like Brendan Haywood, Sam Dalembert, etc, get 7 figures a year, there is no way on earth a guy like Kendrick Perkins is signing anywhere for less than 8 mil per year.

I think OKC will go after Perkins hard. He's what they need. And yeah, they will have cap space. Maybe enough to sign both Green and Perkins.

He seems to be working well with the Mavs core, and IMO they most likely will keep the same team next year, makes me think they'll re-sign him, and we'd have to overpay to get him.

I like the idea, but I feel to win in this league you HAVE to have a guy who can just totally take over a game. Kobe, MJ, Lebron, etc. If we are going this route we will be similar to the Pistons w/ Billups and crew. Bunch of great players but no superstars, and I'm afraid the way the league is shaping up, that type of team can't win anymore.

If we go this route, then PG HAS to pan out as a superstar we hope he's going to be, Roy as well, DC as well, and Danny has to get back to form.
