It's official, Darren Collison isn't a disappointment

I never thought so to begin with, considering the way that JOB's system tanks point guards' stats (T.J. Ford and Jarrett Jack can also attest to this.)

But he's had 6 or more assists in 6 of the last 7 games, and that one he didn't was the blowout against New Jersey where he and the rest of the starters didn't get as much run as normal. He's averaging over a point-and-a-half more than last year thus far, 1/2 more rebounds a game, same amount of steals as last year, and is climbing his way up to his assists average from last year now just 0.7 back from 2009-2010 despite the slow start statistically. It's all about being used correctly. Byron Scott did it (as briefly as he coached DC), Jeff Bower did it, JOB started to half-wake up towards the end of his tenure and Frank Vogel is doing it thus far. Unfortunately, it'll be a long shot for him to consistently make the All-Star team in the East thanks to Derrick Rose and Rajon Rondo.

He's also not turning over as much as he did his rookie year. I think Collison can end the season with something like 14.5 and 6.

You could also base his production off of the games he started last season, when CP was hurt. His averages spiked to around 18/3/ 9 after he took over for the Hornets.

He is well below those numbers. But I think as our team continues to grow, his presence will too.

Were we thinking that he was a disappointment?

No.

Darren could flourish here once he establishes himself. I was just pointing out the production he is capable of producing.
