14 of 22..

Thats how many times Hansbrough has scored in double digits dating back to his first start against the Spurs. And 7 of those 14 are of the 15+ point variety.

Coming along nicely I would say.

Even though this season is still going on and may even provide some playoff basketball I am still excited to see how much Hibbert , George and Hansbrough grow in the offseason heading into next season.

With Hibbert its more of a physical improvement that he can work on. Being able to back down more easily will really help him.

With George its becoming a better dribbler , penetration player and finisher. I have noticed he fumbles the ball sometimes on dribble moves when going to his off hand.

With Hansbrough its learning to use his left hand and maybe working on a dribble move to create space for a pull up jumper. Its impressive that he has played as well as he has with such a basic fundamental game.

Hansbrough needs to work on defense more than anything. He's a pretty bad defender right now. I expect him to improve his defense a lot over the next two seasons. If he doesn't, then we should look at moving him after his rookie contract. But if he does, then he could become a pretty good starter or a potential 6th man of the year candidate.

His defense is fine.

Picks up on rotations in the paint and makes it tough on anyone wanting to post him up. He has saved Foster and Hibbert so many times this season with his rotation and cutter pickups.

His perimeter defense has also improved during the season.

His " trouble " on defense is severely overstated.

"Bad" defender? He is above average, I'd say, when all's accounted for, including his undersized nature. McBob is the one I worry about.

To me, a lot of playing D as a big is also rebounding. McBob isn't quite getting after the defensive boards like I want for a guy his size. Granted, Hibbert takes a lot of those rebounds.

Defensive rebounding sometimes indicates that guys are playing off their man in favor of being near the hoop for boards. But it also indicates that there wasn't an offensive rebound, which is important too. It's all about what is needed on the court.

I'll be honest. Between McBob and Hansbrough, the 4-spot has been MUCH less of a concern this year than I thought post-Murphy trade.

So while I'd still like to maybe chase a PF in this offseason, I'd like to get that guy, re-sign McBob, and (I'll say it), maybe see what it would take to get Greg Oden. Then, should we get one, our new PF would start, Tyler would be first off the bench, and then let McBob float between the 4 and 5 to keep Oden fresh/going small.

If that happens, I truly think that Tyler would have a shot at being 6th man of the year.

Tyler is a decent defender. I would say better than average with his weakness being his can't alter too many shots. He keeps his groud and doesn't bite on fakes...he has a nose for the ball and remains in good position. He is a good rebounder based on the simple fundamentals of boxing out and down right nasty hustle.

The man NEVER stops hustling.

I'd say his weakness is he's about 2" too short. he's awfully strong and can usually get his shot up anyway but when he's playing against bigger and stronger guys like Milsap and Jefferson he has no game unless the officials put him on the line.
