Got three choices and it would help when you select the one you do, please mention why...

Tyler Hansborough at his current pace would be a 20-10 star on virtually any team in the league and those don't belong on the bench coming in. He's slowly proving he can handle anything thrown at him and proving people wrong.

He's putting those numbers up on a bad team tho.

I don't think everybodies ready to call Kris Humphries a full time starter on most teams in the league either.

I still see him as a part time starter, 6th man on a good team.

6th Man extraordinaire. I would hope that help arrives during the off season as while he is playing well, I don't want his being relied upon to play 38mpg.

The way he's playing and with the people currently playing behind him, fulltime starter.

BUT

I'm not sold that he would be able to maintain his style of play while taking on starter's minutes for 82 games + ~1month or so in the playoffs. A 6th man role is where I think he will find himself on a good team. Kind of like Al Harrington, very capable of scoring when called upon, but not a starter on a good team, especially if we can take advantage of our cap situation in getting a 4.

Like it was said above, he seems to get winded after getting a lot of run (and since we like his energy throughout the meat of the game, he burns a lot of energy then and not as full for the home stretch.)

So, my guess, is that he moves back to the bench next year and once the Pacers get more respect in the league, he becomes a perennial 6th Man of The Year candidate.

There is just something about him. Since we drafted him I was content thinking that he'd eventually replace Foster's high energetic play.

I could see us getting a third big capable of playing the 4&5. Regardless of who starts, if we had one more effective big there would be enough minutes (32 mpg avg) for a three man rotation consisiting of Hib, Tyler & whoever.

I hope Tyler has a long career in Indy. His tenacity reminds me of Ron Artest back when Ronnie was breaking through. I love physical players, and Tyler is no exception.

If he keeps playing the way he has been from now until the end of the season... Starter. I am sure he will have some more stinkers though since he IS virtually a rookie. Though he has been automatic lately with getting double figures.

He was definitely winded against the Knicks.. He played 40 out of 48 minutes and barely got a breather in the second half which caused him to have a couple bad shots.

I think he is a legit player in the NBA. He isn't a Super-Star but he is the type of player every team would love to have. He does the little things, he hustles, and he shows up every night.

Having someone who can get to the line, run the floor, play a physical in your face defense, and isn't afraid to put himself on the floor...That is what I want.

To me - Starter or reserve makes no difference. I do want him in at the end of the game and on the floor for 30 minutes every night.

Even when his shots aren't falling he is an asset to the squad...there aren't enough players that you can say that about.

I think he's looking more and more like he will be a pretty good NBA starter.

I'm not opposed to an upgrade at power forward, if the Pacers can find one. But I'm not sure any more that power forward is the weakest link in the starting five.

Tyler isn't your typical 4-year college player, where he peaks around his senior year, he was a four time all-american. How many guys can say that?

Seriously this guy competes at a different level, and because of that he is able to overcome his disadvantages. What really does it for him is the jumper (18-20 ft. range), if he can continuously hit that shot then he has a chance to be an 18/8 type player. I won't give him style points on his post offense, it's not pretty but you gotta do whatcha gotta do.

Yeah, this says it pretty well for me too. Couple of other points I agree with:
1. I don't see power forward as the most critical need position of the 5 starting positions. I think we have much bigger questions at point guard.
2. A long athlete who could play both the 4 and 5 would be the perfect addtion to our front court. Unfortunately those guys are pretty rare.

OOOOO calling out Collison????? Collison will be fine when we actually start running some offense, its been beaten into the ground in various threads so ill avoid hijacking another.

We've got alot of Tyler Hansbrough fans/optimists on this board that at the same time dont seem to like Collison. Funny because its probably the same people that were head over heels when we acquired him over the summer. Interesting...hopefully you guys are right about Tyler.

I posted a few weeks ago that Tyler was fast becoming one of my favorite players.

I begged for a pass first, defensive minded point guard last year and when I ran a thread asking who fit that description DC was a front runner.
He has not been that but I don't think he's necessarily had the best chance to BE that here.

He needs to feel that there are better options that him out there and that our best chance to win is when he can make a good pass.
Lance I have always felt can help here and also effectively guard the bigger points (That would be great).

I'd be happy with B Hans in the 2nd.

We're messed up and I am disappointed with our play but do not feel sure about what would help.
A little more offense from somewhere, I don't care where, without hurting the D.
2 guard would seem to be the easiest place to find that, maybe.

Grab a real good free agent if you can. A strong post defender, or a slashing, spark plug sort of guy (unless Lance hangs in) would be great.
Don't be afraid to spend cash. That's the flip side of saving picks and players.
Don't blow cash just to "salvage" your off-season on a guy to compete for time.

^ As long as we don't pull a Bucks w/ our cap space I'll be happy.

Why would you want B Hans when he doesnt fit at all with what you wanted in a PG?

I wasn't meaning to call anyone out. It was more a statement about how well Hansbrough has been playing. I have faith in Collison, I think he's going to turn out to be pretty good. But maybe I'm suffering from a severe case of optimism tonight, brought on by back-to-back wins over the Knicks.
