You Guys are Getting Playing against More than the Bulls

Post#1 » by fullermd » Tue Apr 19, 2011 7:43 am

When I watched game one, I was very disturbed by the number of calls that affected the outcome of the game that were made against the Pacers, ESPECIALLY in the first half of game one. Last night my suspicions were confirmed for me when I say Hibbert get those 2 quick fouls, followed by a quick foul on Granger, when Noah had already had slapping and over-the-back fouls, I counted three, w/o a single call. In game one, you guys were ahead, and the only thing the media showed highlights of was Derrick Rose. O.k. this is speculation based on observation. But, objectively looking on, because I am a Knick fan, I think you guys are being cheated.

Not saying whether the refs are good or bad.....BUT....If the refs were trying to cheat Indiana intentionally why would they call 2 fouls in the first 7 minutes on Rose and get him taken out of the game?

I don't care about whether or not there's a conspiracy, but I think it's pretty obvious that some of those calls late in the game were a joke. Which probably led to us losing, which led to me writing this rant.

Reffing basketball is very difficult. It is impossible to get all the calls right and impossible not to make bad calls. There were obvious calls that should not have been called for both teams. Thats the nature of officiating in the NBA. To say the refs are "cheating" for one team is a huge stretch.

I agree that it's a bit ludicrous to suggest there's a "hidden agenda" or "conspiracy" behind the calls. I do, however think that Refs are human, and human emotions can get wrapped up in the intensity of the home crowd. That deep inner feeling of fight or fright, you call against Chicago and you have 40k fans roaring at you, you call for and they're cheering you on. I think it's less scheming and more basic human psychology. That's where home court advantage really comes into play; a crowd can be a powerful ally or a fierce opponent.

Which is why the Pacers "home" games are gonna continue to suck, big time.

I feel for the refs. They really get eaten up by coaches and players as well as fans. Fans of teams should look at the short comings of their own teams, plays that should of been executed properly players making plays then blaming the refs.

At a certain point, though, the errors are more noticeable. Foster was executing a good box-out until he got shoved.

To many close calls.
Game shouldn't be decided by the refs... but the idiotic "softball" that panders to highlight reels and flashy "stars" makes it inevitable. It also makes it possible for the league to decide who is to win close ones, assuming they care about millions of dollars.
Someone mentioned pro wrestling. IF the games are in any way tampered with then we have no longer a sport but a spectacle.
For the good of competition a more natural style of play that didn't lend itself to scrawny kids dancing in the lane would be a good thing.
It would also be good for real penalties that eliminated brawls in hockey too.
But again there's less money in that.

The real question is why did it take so long for him to pick up his 3rd?

Be respectful.

10:04 - Korver gets whistled for a foul when Dunleavy runs into him
8:26 - Korver gets whislted for a offensive foul when McRoberts slides right in front of him and never sets his feet. this is korvers 4th foul
2:26 - Noah gets whistled for a foul in a clean block on george
2:09 - Immediately after noahs foul on a clean block, foster slides infront rose as he is going to the basket, rose draws contact and makes the bucket and doesnt get the and1 call.
1:24 - noah gets whistled for another all-ball foul this time on granger. this is noahs 5th foul
59.3 - hibbert gets whistled for an offensive foul which granted was a bad call, but he clearly dragged his pivot foot before his shot and should have been called for travelling. either way, bulls ball
23.4 - price kicks his leg out on a three and gets the call on rose. three free throws, makes them all and makes it a 2 point game.

all of these calls occurred in a 2-possession game or less.
I AM NOT SAYING ALL OF THESE CALLS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE. In fact, I am all for letting the teams play down the stretch and being lenient with calls. but pacers fans make it sound like every call went the bulls' way down the stretch when that just isnt true.

It is not just Pacer fans but I'm done talking about refs in reference to the 1st and 2nd game of this series. It is not a conversation in which someone can "win" nor do I anticipate any breakthroughs leading to a magical answer in reference to the refs. I just hope for a fair game three and four in which Danny would get the star calls and Chicago would play behind the eight ball.

In before your post gets deleted/w.e. READ THE THREAD BEFORE YOU POST.

and noah didnt even get the ball when he fouled Granger, he got a handful of forearm. With George, he was fouled on the drive anyway. And clearly, you have no idea what consititutes an offensive foul vs a blocking foul. Get off our boards with your incorrect indepth analysis.

Not only did Price kick out, but he also grabbed Derrick's arm on the play as well. You can see him grab Derrick's arm at :45. Should've been an offensive foul simply because of the kick out.

The Pacers have been getting ALOT of love from knick, heat and celtic fans, wonder why?

I do think this Pacer team is better than their record indicates and could be compared to the Hawks the year they only won 38 games but took the 08 Celtics 7 games.

Bright future is ahead for Indiana and i can see a healthy division rivalry between the two teams.

Okay, and what about the previous five or six times that Rose hit Price while shooting? Can you go back and post those for our viewing pleasure as well?

In particular, one play in the 2nd quarter which would have been Rose's 3rd foul and completely changed the face of the game. Instead, the foul was credited to Brewer, who wasn't near the play.

Thanks in advance.

Too Little, too late. That being said, still looks like a foul to me.
