Much of the talk on here is always possible trades and talking about which free agents we want the Pacers to sign. How about, from our own list of free agents, we do you want to keep?

The free agents are: TJ Ford, Mike Dunleavy, Jeff Foster, Solomon Jones and Josh McRoberts.

I'm sure they will try to re-sign McRoberts. And i think Foster returns. After 12 years with the Pacers, i don't think he is ready to hang them up just yet and i think he'll take a hometown discount to remain with us, and his leadership i'm sure is highly regarded by Bird and Morway.

I see Brandon Rush being moved. He was almost dealt at the deadline and fell pretty low in the rotation during Vogel's interim time as coach.

Among these players, we need McBob the most.
I'd be glad if we can re-sign Foster, we'll need him in the playoffs.

Ford would be expensive for a third-string PG.
If Mike Dunleavy could settle for a smaller, shorter contract, maybe yes. His playing time would be greatly reduced but he'll be a good offensive option off the bench.
Solo is expendable, and we need someone bigger and stronger than him.

McBob still needs to fix the attitude. If McBob comes back, we'll need a veteran big with a good head on the shoulders to teach him. I guess that means Foster as well.

Ford could still do some good for somebody, I just don't see it being here. Dunleavy I feel the same way, although I would extend something like 9m over 3 years to him.

Here's how I'd rank them, from most likely to be brought back to least likely:

Foster
McRoberts
Dunleavy
Ford/Solomon (tie)

As long as Foster wants to come back, I think he'll be back. I get the feeling he wants to keep playing.

Bringing back McRoberts seems pretty possible. But I don't get the feeling the Pacers are necessarily all that committed to him. I think this one will depend on whether or not the Pacers can get someone they like better through a trade or free agency.

I think the front office likes Dunleavy, but bringing him back just doesn't make all that much sense, at least not to me. The Pacers are going to give Granger and George the bulk of the playing time at the wings. Dahntay Jones deserves playing time too, and he's under contract. Rather than Dunleavy, I think the Pacers should bring in someone who is more of a natural two guard.

And then Ford and Solomon both have zero chance of coming back.

I'd like to know who is coaching the team before answering this. I think Jeff Foster has to come back, if not for his defensive leadership and post defense, then for his professionalism and pride. McRoberts will come back only if the money makes sense, and it will. I actually see a chance that Solo comes back, on 1-year or 1 + team option kind of deal because he's not old (but still seasoned) and he's cheap and he knows the lads. There's worse options out there.

Other than that, I think the re-signings will be dependent on the coach, and therefore, the roles offered to the FA's. If Adelman become coach, he may offer Dunleavy a lot better of a role compared to a Mike Brown or Vogel, owing to the fact that he prefers vet's. I could see Dunleavy playing for Boston or LA (maybe with his Dad?) or San Antonio.

I think Ford is gone (and rightfully so) and i hope he signs with a contender, because he deserves a deep playoff run or two.

Out of our f/a's I'd like to keep Feisty as a third c/pf. He'd be absolutely great in that role for us, and we could keep his minutes relatively low throughout the season, saving him for the playoffs or to replace an injured player.

Dunleavy could be resigned if he'd accept $2 mill per.

Solo, McBob, & Ford can leave for all I care. We could possibly find a team willing to accept a S&T for Josh. Something relatively low, like a disappointing large rookie contract.

I keep Josh if all he can get elsewhere is rookie money.

What if Josh could get us Thorton in a double S&T, of course we could take on a couple million extra.

Is that even legal?

Foster and Dunleavy at a discount and McRoberts. Beyond that, why? Ford needs to move on. Solomon is a depth big.

I want Foster back, at the right price. He is future front office material.

McBoberts...needs to be more consistent and less moody, but for the right price is worth keeping

I think I'm in the same boat as everyone else.

McRoberts - for the right price, but let's also try and get another and different-style PF for versatility, depth, and McRoberts has a tendency to disappear during games and when he does appear, tries to do too much.

Foster - for the right price. I think the "right price" can be had considering Foster is 34, wearing down, and (in my opinion) not quite good enough for an "almost there" team to go out and sign thinking he will get said team over the hump. My guess is loyalty wins out. Plus, I'd also like to take a look at Oden (for the right price) and/or bring over Barac or Lorbek. In either scenario, Foster could split time with Oden and help keep both healthy. And in the case of the Euros, have him help them learn the game.

Dunleavy - ONLY if he's willing to accept a lot less money and a lot less playing time. To me, as a bench player which is what Duns would be, Dahntay takes precedence. In spurts, DJ's offense can be nice and is a better defender.

TJ - the writing is on the wall. I thank him for helping us with the implosion of the team and overall seemingly keeping a good attitude about everything. And any guy who plays point guard in Jim O'Brien's system for over 3 years...God bless ya!

I personly hope we sign none of the ones you said foster has the play off experience I think he'd be a nice asst coach...The others let them go or trade them....Pluse we jamal tinsley contract fall of too this july $37 mllion cap space to go after some good players..

Foster should be our top priority. I'm not a huge Mcbob fan but if we do not get a real power forward then we should bring him back

Not sold on Foster's leadership. He's a likeable guy who can be a good model for younger guys but I dont see much leadership because of how little he plays. Can't be a real leader when you're not playing, simply said. I would be fine bringing him back at the right price.

Foster is not only a leader, he is also a mentor to the younger players coming into the league. The fact he was able to turn his skillset into a decade-plus lucrative career is quite amazing, and a testament to the type of person he is.

The players that want to last in this business, would be wise to follow a guy like Jeff. That makes him a leader by example.

You do have a point that when he doesn't play his influence diminishes a bit, but he got it right back in the playoffs.

Regardless, if the cost is minimal, there is no harm in resigning him, even if it's to preserve him for the playoffs. I guarantee his leadership and influence would crush anyone we could replace him with, at the minimum price range. I'd rather have 'feisty at a million, than say, a second rounder (Rolle) for 750k.

you're probably going to have to pay Jeff a whole lot more than a million. you aren't going to get Josh for a million either and if we lose him I'd hate to go into next year without Jeff unless we make a major signing. if Jeff's health permits, I'd seriously consider starting him at the four and letting Ty be an energy guy and second unit scorer.

Foster is on the verge of retirement. If his role is reduced to preservation, than his salary takes a hit ( ie. Zadrunas Ilgaslk ?? $1.6 with Miami).

None of our f/a's are worth a million, except McBob, and that is why I don't want him. I would sign McRoberts to a 1 yr/1mill contract if he doesn't get an offer elsewhere, otherwise I don't want him. For having such a high IQ, he played dumb in the playoffs.
