We may have a deal with Twolves (Granger)

Sam Amico is reporting that the Indiana Pacers and Minnesota Timberwolves are discussing a potential trade for the second overall selection in the NBA Draft.
Amico mentions Danny Granger, Ricky Rubio and Michael Beasley as some of the players being discussed between the two teams, so clearly these two teams are looking to make a major deal. If David Kahn deals the second overall pick and gives up Rubio and Beasley in the same trade, he better receive a haul of talent in return or he's going to face some serious backlash from the fans.

Wow. Why wouldn't we do it?

Derrick Williams is a younger, more athletic version of Granger.

And Ricky Rubio is coming to the States this season. But would he play for us?

I believe I read that when Rubio was talking about coming to the NBA he mentioned that Pacers as one of the teams he would want to play for because of Larry Bird. If it is Rubio, Beasley, and the #2 then of course we do it. If it is just Rubio and the #2 then we need to find a place to ship Collison to acquire a big or a SG.

I want to see the entire trade before I begin to make a judgement. Paul George deserves starter's minutes, if not next season, then the next. It might work to have both Granger and George on the floor to start the game, but both would benefit starting by more of a pure shooting guard.

Overall, George has the potential to be a better player than Granger (this was said about Shawne Williams at one time as well, although you wouldn't have heard it from me). He is more explosive, better handles, and younger than Danny. He has a lot to work on, but he could be a star in this league.

We all knew from the beginning that Danny was going to be at best someone's Robin, but never a Batman. I think Bird realizes this and wants to make a move that will bring more youth and athleticism to the team.

Currently the number 2 pick would net us Derrick Williams. He is a bit of a tweener at 6-9, but would match the height of both of our options at that position, but with more athleticism and upside. This could allow us to move Tyler back to the bench in time, almost in a Foster type role. Energy, rebounding and put backs, with the occasional jumper.

I really enjoyed watching this team this season and in the playoffs; but there isn't enough talent here to be championship contenders. Throw in Beasley and Rubio and we might be on to something. Yes, if Rubio didn't want to go to Minnesota then why would he want to go to Indiana; because it's not Minnesota. :)

In Indianapolis it's cold in winter?

It does get cold, but not anywhere near Minnesota cold.

It's not cold inside the fieldhouse.

I'd do Granger for the two and whatever else we could get. wouldn't take much. I'd even take Flynn and leave them Rubio as I think Flynn can be better than AJ. word is this is a two player draft. I think Cleveland will take Williams leaving us Irving or Kanter which is fine but if they go the other way it's even better. I see Williams as a three not a four and I think he sees himself that way too.

however, Kahn has never been kind to Indy ever since he lost his spot here to Morway so I take this with big grains of salt.

He doesn't give a sh*t about the weather. It was his mother. Anyway, he say he prefers to play in the East.

I don't think i'd do Flynn over Rubio. Because Flynn is a good player, but streaky, and while we don't know how Rubio will play in the NBA, he has star potential.

Wow, I can't believe people are having doubts about this. If we were offered the same deal for a 28 year old Pierce, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

The Indy line-up will be sick, especially if they go out and get Mayo, (trade Beasley to get him - it would probably need to be a 3 way, Memphis don't want Beasley)
PG: Collison/ Rubio/ Price
SG: Mayo/ Rush/ Stephenson
SF: George/ Dunleavy Jr.
PF: Williams/ Hansbrough/ McRoberts
CT: Hibbert/ Foster

This trade works wonders for us, unless everything goes wrong. Granger isn't PAST his prime, he's just not as good as his one year of fame. I'm not implying he's not a factor, he most certainly is, but he's not as good as the general public assume. I love this deal, because Beasley is a young prospect who'd thrive in our Vogel system. He would be fed the appropriate touches he needs, and he's better around the rim. One thing that is on my mind is having Michael Beasley and Lance Stephenson in the same locker room. Beasley is a known head case.

So they're mentioning that Rubio, Beasley, and the #2 are in play from the Wolves.

They've mentioned that Granger is in play from the Pacers.

To me, this says that Darren Collison has to be in the deal (can and should you really have 2 young PG's on the same roster?), and possibly Tyler Hansbrough as well (Beasley should be a PF, and once again, is there room for 2 young PF's on the same roster to develop?).

Thus, it would probably look more like this:

Rubio/Beasley/#2
for
Granger/Collison/Hansbrough (or #15)

I can't imagine we could move Granger for Rubio/Beasley/#2, even if we add the #15 to Granger. I'd be all for it though, if we could.

I still like Beasley, especially if he's allowed to play his natural PF spot. I know, some might call me a hypocrite for allowing Beasley and his notorious weed habit, but keep in mind, I've not once advocated the cutting of Rush nor did I advocate the dumping of David Harrison for their weed violations.

^Minny fan here. I don't think we'd move Rubio/Beasley and #2, because that's sort of all of our "potential" in one bucket.

I get what you're saying, but you still have Love. You still have Flynn (who is still getting healthy). You still have Pekovic (who I assume you still have high hopes for). You still have Wes Johnson.

Also, assume that you wouldn't be giving up the #2, Rubio, and Beasley for just Granger. That's just silly.

This fits the description of the trade I wanted for granger yesterday. However, why would Minnesota do this?

No, no, no.

Granger has said repeatedly that he likes it in Indiana and let's be honest, while Danny is not a perennial all-star, loyalty amongst small-market teams from players is getting tougher and tougher to come by. If Danny is wanting to stay, let's keep him. I remember Bird commenting on the rumors of Devin Harris for Danny Granger last year saying something like "they're going to have to give up something a lot more than Devin Harris." And you could argue that Harris is better than any of those guys.

Beasley is good, sometimes plays selfish, and can be a knucklehead. Rubio is unproven and appears to have no interest in playing Minnesota and in terms of NBA markets, Indiana and Minnesota aren't tons different. And the #2 in a weak draft? For the guy we've built our franchise around and has been the one shining constant from post-brawl to now.

I do NOT want this.
