OT- Brown close to joining Lakers

Post#1 » by Grang33r » Wed May 25, 2011 3:01 am

The Los Angeles Lakers are engaged in serious discussions with Mike Brown about the ex-Cleveland Cavaliers coach becoming the franchise’s next coach, league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Tuesday night.

The Lakers are focused on talks with Brown, who was fired in 2011 after five seasons in Cleveland, where he went 272-138.

Los Angeles had considered longtime assistant Brian Shaw, but the focus is now on Brown. There could be an agreement in place within the next 24-48 hours, sources say, but nothing has been finalized.

The two sides are working out issues that could be dealbreakers and cause the Lakers to go to another candidate, sources said, but there’s clearly momentum toward Brown becoming the next head coach.

Two reasons why i am posting this.

1. We can cross Brown off our list, although, not sure how serious he/we were in him but i have heard his name talked about with us several times.

2. Lets see if my theory is correct, we waited to hire Vogel until Adelman got/didnt get the Lakers job, so we can interview/offer him a job to see what kind of interest he would have.

If I were Brown, i'd take the Lakers' offer. If i'm Larry, i'd give it to Vogel without thinking much.

I am happy with Vogel. It's a players league anyway, as long as the players like their coach, which ours love Vogel, let's keep him.

one down. I'm happy with Vogel and I'm happy to read he'll have to upgrade his staff. it won't surprise me if once all the head coaching positions are filled, one of the guys that didn't make it gets an offer from us as associate head coach to Vogel.

We're not contending for a title with Vogel as HC so your post is contradictory.

We still have no idea what Vogel's ceiling is. This is what people said about Carlisle when he started and now he's got the Mavs in the Finals. Of course, the other part of the formula (the more important part) is the talent. That still doesn't diminish the fact that Vogel could coach a team that's in the Finals.

Off topic but how would you guys rate Mike Dunleavy?

Is he Kyle Korver on defense or is he more like an average defensive player that can get by against most match-ups?
