Players want Vogel?

I saw this on ESPN.

Indiana Pacers players want interim coach Frank Vogel to get the full-time gig.

Pacers players who participated in a charity softball game for the Indiana Children's Wish Fund say they like him.

I'm not sure this really counts as a ringing endorsement if just a guy or two at a charity even said they liked their previous coach. I do want Vogel back, and it seems like things are moving in that direction. This particular event doesn't seem worth a blurb on a major sports' news site though.

While I agree that this by no means should be THE deciding factor. However, it should definitely count a little bit. Let's say those guys didn't want him back. I would think they'd likely say something like Kobe did the other day at his charity event, something like "now's not the time to discuss it" or "it will work itself out or something like that."

Based on a couple things I've seen on PG's and Roy's twitter accounts, they'd mentioned a couple pro-Vogel comments.

He needs some solid experienced assistants, but at this point, I'd like to see him back.

I think there would be a lot more talk about other rumors were he not coming back. all of the coaches have contracts that expire at the end of June which is when the CBA ends. I think we'll sign Vogel right after there is a new CBA. no point in paying coaches during a lock out.

Vogel will be back. This might be the icing on the cake, but he's definitely the best option as our head coach.

I agree with Chube... it's been pretty well known the players, and most fans, like Vogel. Even the slight hint of getting behind Vogel says something at this point. I'm surprised we haven't heard more out of the Pacers and the coaching search. I've been sorta crossing my fingers for Rick Adelman, but at the same time also want Vogel back.

I feel we are at somewhat of a crossroads. Adelman would be a great veteran presence and give the team the direction they need, but Vogel inspires the team. Which is better? We are young and immature as a team and Adelmans veterean presence might not crossover. Vogels potential and ability to inspire seems almost best at this point. Vogel can grow with the team and with Larry behind him can become an excellent coach.

I'm backing Vogel for the job.

Free agency is going to be an entire new ballgame. Quickly, i'd like us to curb the spending and not overpay an average player. Bring back McRoberts!

I've been reading Adrains twitter for almost a year and he seems to be very reliable and there's an article about Vogel below:

The direct link isn't working. You have to access it through his twitter. Nice find, though. I like the idea of keeping Burke and then bringing in a couple of enforcers.

Paul George has tweeted #TeamVogel several times.

I think Vogel as coach is the right solution! With this decison the players can“t hide behind anyone else because they wanted Vogel.

You should get Brian Shaw instead, that's what you need to do Indy.
