Latest Mock, read Pacers pick analysis.

When Bird couldn't hide a smile, for a man who never smiles on anything, it is a positive.

With a week to go until the draft, I'm thinking Brooks is the guy I most want the Pacers to take. Unfortunately, he seems to be drawing interest from other teams too. Oh well, if he rises, someone else will have to drop to #15...maybe Burks.

I keep wanting to like one of the power forwards in this draft, but it is looking to me as though the best players available at #15 are likely to be wing players. Best draft strategy is to pretty much always take the best player available.

that's a good mock. I've been relying on draft express for years (ever since JG split off from here) and Givony has more analysis here than on his own board. I found it particularly interesting to see that he mentioned us as a trade possibility both higher and lower than 15. it could be a very good year to fill multiple spots with us having so many open roster spots and most valuing next year's picks higher than this years.

this what makes this draft not so weak at all. i'd like to think this is a deep draft, with almost all draftees from late-first to the 60th on the same tier talent-wise.

The most interesting thing in this article for me was Pacers mentioned as potential acquirers of pick 4 and pick 20. Have to wonder who we like at 4? Kanter, Knight, Walker? If I had to guess I'd say Kanter. Then wonder what package we'd be offering for pick 20? Maybe Rush and our 2nd pick?

Cleveland has cap room but wouldn't any Rush trade with Chicago or MIN require a contract coming our way to match salaries on their end?

MIN has the cap room to absorb Rush

I love Marshon Brooks. I've liked Alec Burks more but he is having weak workouts and im starting to like Jimmer. But to me, it's between those three. I wouldn't mind Morris but i feel like he's just going to be some energy off the bench, not that theres anything wrong with that, but i think one of those 3 guys can be starts in this league. Brooks is a hard worker, smart kid, very humble and a scoring machine. He scored like 52 this past season and also scored 43 against Georgetown. He has quickness and plays some pretty solid defense. Unlike Brandon Rush, Brooks can and will drive to the basket and get to the free throw line or get easy baskets down low. He's not just a sharpshooter like a Rush or Jimmer.

By the way, his 52 game explosion, is the most points scored ever by a player from the big east. Thats a long and storied history of the big east, that's got to mean something.

Brooks has impressed me with his footwork. That's an advanced aspect of the game that will translate to this level. He can be an efficient player.

I'm definitely starting to think that Brooks would be the best fit for us. He can create his own shot very well, but most of all he plays defense. Would love to see him in a Pacers jersey next season, and it's looking very likely as of right now.

How can you say that? Burks and Fredette will be the two wings taken in our portion of the draft (picks 8-14) that are going to be taken over Brooks. Also, quite a few of the teams in that are of the draft are in need of a big man, and will use the draft to fill that need. I really believe that he'll be there at #15. Another name that will more than likely be drafted over him is Klay Thompson.

Even if Burks drops, idk if Bird will pick him with him refusing to workout for us...

If that happens, i'd say grab Burks and trade him as a part of a trade for Brooks and a couple of bigs or picks. I think there could be a lot of teams interested in acquiring Burks.

Heard on 1070 the Fan while driving home last night that during the work out Brooks had some really impressive moments after the media was allowed into the session. Those who were there for the entire workout noted that Klay Thompson was at least as good if not better than Brooks.

I could be ok with either one of these guys or Alec Burks for that matter.

Still wonder if the need to rebuild front court depth doesn't rule the day. Kenneth Faried fills such a huge need. Any word on how his workout went? Are the Pacers bringing in any more of the point guard prospects? I'd be disappointed if they didn't at least take a look at Shelvin Mack.

Either Michael Grady or Mike Wells said Brooks knocked Thompson out of consideration for the 15th pick. They said Brooks beat him 1on1 in make it, take it. Brooks barely missed a shot. I hope we don't draft him. He's gonna be a terrible defender his whole career. I see his ceiling being like a Mike Dunleavy. If Brooks is gone I like Faried or if either of the Morris twins are still left. Does anybody think Biyombo might fall to us? I don't see it happening. I heard on 1070 Shelvin Mack isn't working out for us because he knows he's not going 15 and it doesn't seem very likely for him to drop to 42. Could also say we're sticking with our picks. Not trading down or buying one.

On the Thompson/Brooks question makes you wonder who's blowing smoke at us. Conrad Brunner was the one who talked up Thompson. Scouting reports I've read on Thompson say he's not a bad athlete. I don't know what would be better the floor stretcher or the shot creator/defender? I could see Darren, George, HIbbert and Hansbrough benefiting from the extra space a guy like Thompson might create.
