(IND) If you're Larry Bird...

With differing opinions, I just thought maybe we can have a topic like this wherein you can read one's fantasy scenarios for this upcoming season all summed up, starting with the DRAFT.
I'm planning to post this in the other teams' boards as well so we could see what others have to say about each and every team.

Just post your answers for the different scenarios below, you can explain your idea and let others know your rationale.

2011 NBA DRAFT:

2011 NBA DRAFT:

draft Marshon Brooks and try to move up from 42 to get Nolan Smith or JuJuan Johnson.

FREE AGENCY:

Nene, Carl Landry, Caron Butler, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Marcus Thorton, James Jones, Samuel Dalembert, Shane Battier, Josh McRoberts, & Jeff Foster.

TRADES:

Move Rush for a draft pick or use him with a 2012 pick, Collison, or Hansbrough to uprade the 1 or 4 spot.

***BLOCKBUSTER:***

Sit back and wait for a cash strapped owner to panic. We'll being seeing more than 1 firesale after the new CBA IMO.

2011 NBA DRAFT:

a) trade the 15th pick, along with Rush and Posey to Cleveland for Varejao and the 32nd, then select Chandler Parsons with the 32nd.

b) with the 15th pick, pick one of these guys (in order): Alec Burks, Jimmer Fredette (then trade him), or Marshon Brooks. acquire Boston's 25th pick for future 2nd rounder + cash, grab big guys with the 25th and 42nd (in order): Jeremy Tyler, Justin Harper, JaJuan Johnson, Nikola Vucevic, Keith Benson, Greg Smith.

FREE AGENCY:

Jeff Foster (re-sign)
Josh McRoberts (re-sign)
Marcus Thornton, if not, Nick Young (assuming WAS wouldn't match)
Sign a young, cheap combo forward for depth like Dominic McGuire, or maybe an undrafted rookie.

TRADES:

The 15th pick, along with Rush and Posey to Cleveland for Varejao and the 32nd.

***BLOCKBUSTER:***

Granger for Eric Gordon?

excluding the blockbuster scenario, i'd probably end up having a roster like this:

PG: Darren Collison/ Price/ Stephenson
SG: Marcus Thornton/ George/ D. Jones
SF: Danny Granger/ Chandler Parsons/ Dominic McGuire
PF: Anderson Varejao/ Hansbrough/ McRoberts
C: Roy Hibbert/ Nikola Vucevic/ Foster

DRAFT
This draft screams trade down to me. Problem is we don't need more young guys. So maybe pick 15 and 42 to Minnesota for pick 20 and 32? Take Faried at 20 and the best pg prospect available at pick 32.

TRADES
Really like Mooose's idea with Cleveland

FREE AGENCY
Nene is my ultimate fantasy but can't see it happeing
The others I like best are all restricted. Thornton, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Jonas Jarebko. I particularly like Jarebko even though he's coming off an injury. I could see this acquisition working along the lines of Portland's pick up of Wes Mathews. Wonder what offer it would take to Make the Pistons blink?

2011 NBA Draft
-Trade Posey,Rush,#15,#42 to Milwaukee for Salmons,#10
-Draft Bismack Biyombo

Free Agency
-Re-sign Jeff Foster and Josh McRoberts
-Veteran back-up pg (Anthony Carter or Earl Watson)

Hold to our cap room til next year or use it in a trade with a team desperate for cap relief. I think we need one more year to develope Hibbert, George, Collison and Hansbrough before we cash in our cap space.

PG: Darren Collison/ AJ Price/ Anthony Carter
SG: John Salmons/ Dahntay Jones/ Lance Stephenson
SF: Danny Granger/ Paul George
PF: Bismack Biyombo/ Tyler Hansbrough/ Josh McRoberts
C: Roy Hibbert/ Jeff Foster

Just post your answers for the different scenarios below, you can explain your idea and let others know your rationale.

2011 NBA DRAFT:
If I'm Larry Bird, my strategy would be:
BPA. So many picks are busts I'd be cautious of giving up established players to move up much.
I'd be happy with: Hoping for Tristan Thompson, Biyombo, or Burks. I would be ok with Brooks, Fredette, or a Markieff. I think we can get some help at the 15. if somehow those are all gone I'd look to trade back for one a little later with maybe one next year.

FREE AGENCY:
If I'm Larry Bird, i'll try to add these players:
I see good potential to strengthen our front line. If I get out bid go to the next. stop rather than pay out the nose for the sake of moving.
Order of preference.

Show them the Money
Marc Gasol. I don't know if he could/should play with Hib but I'd make him expensive and worry about that problem later.
Nene' - perfect fit between Hib and Danny OR with Danny/George and Tyler. As good as DG and plays absolutely the tweener spot of need for us.
I'd offer a front loaded contract for 3 years with renewals annually after that based on completion of intensives.
Tyson Chandler. I feel a little overly lanky with he and Hibb together but he would still make a great three man rotation up front for us.
If we get any of those three guys it could. in a stroke give us the extra we need to put a scare into the contenders.

Be careful but interesting:
David west. Will he come out? Is he going to be healthy. his age is a factor. Too bad so many questions. He would be a great mentor to Tyler and with his longer arms and savvy would improve us on both ends.
Sam Delembert. he would be the beast we need. stand in and take the starch out of some of those bigs we face, we'd start Tyler but Dele could earn a decent living in our front line.
Chuck Hayes. I don't know that he would fill the void completely but he would be a benefit to us at a reasonable price.
Greg Oden. I doubt it happening but if he goes cheaply I'd risk some.
A Affalo.
Stuckey. I like his game, think he may be a good fit for us (unless Lance come around quick).
McRoberts. Adequate depth we may well afford to keep

TRADES:
If I'm Larry Bird, i will look into these possible trades:
If we do not get one of the three guys listed in the FA part then I am looking to pry loose at a good value: Horford, Favors, Ibake, Okafor, Jason Thompson, Larry Sanders, Anderson Varejao, Deandre Jordan, Anthony Randolph, Brendon Haywood. Jason Terry.

***BLOCKBUSTER:***
If I'm Larry Bird and i needed to make a major push to get my team into the postseason, i'd do:

I'm not feeling a block buster trade. i think we need to grow our talent and add midsize pieces. But
If I had to make a trade so called I'd call Atlanta. Something around Horford for Granger with a third team to get them a Tyson Clandler, Gasol, Perkins + etc may be the thing.

2011 NBA DRAFT:

Playmaker who can score: Jimmer Fredette or Marshon Brooks

FREE AGENCY:
If I'm Larry Bird, i'll try to add these players:

Nene
OJ Mayo

If I'm Larry Bird and i needed to make a major push to get my team into the postseason, i'd do:

-Explore how to get Dwight Howard

-Trade Hibbert for Josh Smith & sign Marc Gasol from Memphis.

Great idea for a thread.

2011 NBA DRAFT:
- Prospects in order for 1st pick: Burks, Brooks, Fredette, K. Thompson, Biyombo, T. Thompson.
- Prospects in order for 2nd:, Jajuan Johnson, Jordan Williams, Nikola Mirotic (stashed in Europe), Greg Smith.

FREE AGENCY:
I'd resign Foster and McRoberts, Foster gets 1 year maybe with a team option, McBob gets 2-3.
After that, the FA's I'm after would be:
- Marcus Thornton
- Carl Landry
- Luc Mbah a Moute

I'm I strike out on all of those guys, I look to the second tier of FA's:
- Marquis Daniels, Mo Evans or Josh Howard at SG/SF
- Chuck Hayes, Craig Smith, Reggie Evans or Etan Thomas at PF/C
- I go and get Brevin Knight out of retirement to play 3rd string PG. If not, Earl Watson or Travis Diener would be fine.

TRADES:
Realistic trades include:
- Paul Millsap: possibly Rush + 2012 1st for Millsap + Raja Bell.
- Aaron Brooks (S&T): Collison + Posey + Hansbrough + #42 for Brooks + Gortat.

***BLOCKBUSTER:***
How about a deal around James Harden for Danny Granger? I think Harden could be perfect at the two, with George at the 3. Harden would be able to dominate the ball as he needs to, and which he cannot in OKC. We could even offer a Collison - Maynor swap as added incentive:

Granger + #15 + #42 for Harden + Robinson + filler (Ivey)

There would be no need to give up picks in a Granger-Harden swap. Not that OKC would do it. Granger makes no sense going there.
