The person who tweeted it, is a 20 year old. I doubt this has any kind of credibility whats so ever.

Re: rumore FOSTER negotiating to sign with lakers
you know it can't be real as it would be tampering. although I suppose we could have given permission to begin early sign and trade discussions.

This is creating a lot of steam for not being a credible source.

Re: rumore FOSTER negotiating to sign with lakers
Foster couldn't be signed by another team until after 7/1 at which time the CBA will have expired right? I can't believe the new CBA is going allow a team like LA who is insanely over the existing salary cap and luxury tax limit continue to spend money and drive the cost of doing business even higher.
Given all that I can't see LA negotiating with anyone.

They simply can't negotiate with him until July 1st. It's simply illegal. The Lakers aren't stupid enough, and Jeff Foster at this point in his career isn't significant enough, to break this rule so flagrantly. They'll lose whatever picks they have over the next 3 years for something this stupid.

He can't even negotiate with anyone until 7/1, and even then, couldn't sign until something like 7/8 or 7/9, by which point the CBA will have expired.

Re: rumore FOSTER negotiating to sign with lakers
The shot of Foster warming up like a prized fighter prior to entering the playoff game against the Bulls was classic. And it's also the reason several elite teams will look to add him.
I wouldn't be surprised if Larry told him to explore his options before the draft, to see if they could cash in a little.
I definitely see the possibility that we could help any cash-strapped team acquire Jeff, at a minimal cost mind you.

I agree. If he wanted to go somewhere like San Antonio to be closer to his hometown, and get a shot at a ring, I'd gladly S&T him for Antonio McDyess ($2.64 million guaranteed, and retiring anyway) and their 1st (where you could get a Jeremy Tyler/JaJuan Johnson type player). I love Jeff Foster, and if we can help him get somewhere where he's realistically playing for a ring, I'd be happy to help him. Especially if we can get some help out of it as well.

I hope Foster leaves. He brings nothing to our team at this point. Over the past few years, the hustle has declined and the whining has increased. The leadership is overblown because frankly, you have to at least be a contributor to have any type of impact as far as leadership goes in professional sports.

Coaches are leaders & they don't contribute on the court. You have a very good point about Foster not contributing, but his impact is totally different, more like a role-model. The fact he can incite the entire Chicago team, and single-handedly balance out the intimidation factor means nothing I guess.
I am with you though, I hope we move on, but I would like a little compensation if possible.

I agree, but I think Foster did contribute last season. He was our best rebounder by far.

I dont think anyone on the Bulls was intimidated lmao. Hence them coming back and blowing our doors off in game 5. You see what you want to see I guess in that respect.
And coaches are obviously an integral part of a team's success so im not sure how you conjured that one up there.

Re: rumore FOSTER negotiating to sign with lakers
The Bulls have the number one defensive unit, so of course they are extra gritty. All that I am asserting is that Foster was a difference maker in the playoffs against the #1 overall seeded team. If he can make a difference for us, imagine his impact with a contender.
Besides you don't really seem to grasp how the NBA works. The old Bulls would have stood up for Jordan, yet Foster was able to headhunt the current MVP without as much as a couple words from Rose. You just don't remember his impact with the 2000 finals team all the way through the 04-06 contender. He was the 1st big to come of the bench for two different contenders.
Bottomline, he can guard centers, that right there guarantees him a job, look at Shaq, Miller, Z, JO. These players are well past their prime, yet they have contracts because of their measurables. Your assertion that Foster is worthless like the players listed above is dead wrong. You only have to look at Brian Cardinal to know that it is possible for a player like Jeff to contribute.

Brian Scalabrine has a contract. What does he contribute other than some nice dance moves?

Re: rumore FOSTER negotiating to sign with lakers
and the final nail in this rumor's coffin comes from the Bird press conference where Larry said that Jeff attending the pre-draft workouts because he sees himself staying in Indy forever and would like to move into the front office after he retires.
