Wow! Thoughts?

I like the move. Honestly, Leonard would've been kind of redundant for us. We need a guard who can create his own shot and score the basketball.

Need all the details - but kinda hate it. (Not george hill - just the trade).

Hill for the rights to the #15, #42, and Lorbek from a few years ago.

Including the 42 seems like a little much.
I wonder if there's another trade in the works, likely including Rush.

I would've liked Leonard's board work, but Hill also solves a couple of issues for us. He gives us a backup Pg (maybe starter?) and he can also slide over for some minutes at the 2. He's got the offensive game we want and he's a hometown kid. He's a playoff contributor as well. I'm for this. We're done with the draft now, and Lorbek is behind Barac in terms of bringing guys over.

There seem to be other piece in this, including Rush and us getting #29. If that's the case, wow, this just got better.

I don't live in Indy anymore, so who is Jay Graves? His twitter ripped Larry's drafting, saying he "did it again." Larry "did it again?" Yes, Larry, as in the guy who drafted Hibbert at 18, Hansbrough at 13, Price at 52, Stephenson at 40, Paul George at 10, traded Collison for Murphy, and had a hand in picking Granger at 17?

M4E, yes, Leonard's work on the glass would've been nice. But in addition to rebounding, I also would like another reliable big who can play offense down low and bang around a little bit. JaJuan Johnson perhaps?

ESPN had it as a straight-up trade.

I hope we come up with another pick if we moved the 42. The 29th would have been nice for a big.

Who cares if Hill is a backup? Look at two of the huge trends in the league that has come alive in the last couple years --- quality guys willing/excited to be a reserve and provide a spark off the bench. There's Jason Terry, Antawn Jamison, Manu Ginobili, Lamar Odom, Mike Miller, and the list goes on. The other trend is a two-point guard system off the bench --- Ty Lawson and Raymond Felton/Chauncey Billups, Tony Parker and Hill, Chris Paul and Jarrett Jack, Kyle Lowry and Aaron Brooks/Goran Dragic, etc.
So Hill can either spell minutes for Collison or George and play with Collison. Larry said he wants to have a great bench and he's on his way.
So Hill will be the first off the bench. Leonard would've been logjammed with Granger, Paul, Dahntay, Rush (still under contract with us), and possibly re-signing Dunleavy.

Honestly, I wasn't too high on picking Leonard in the first place. I don't see him being able to play the 4 in the NBA and I think playing for San Diego State made it really hard to tell what he was capable of. The odds that #42 will contribute are slim to none. We traded to get Rolle last year and then cut him. I'm pretty happy with the deal and surprised that more aren't. I'll be even happier if the Rush/#29 was included.

That was the moron JOB's fault. JOB raved about him in camp, saying he was "easily" (direct quote) the best player in camp...then played him about 5 minutes a game in the freakin' pre-season. For a player he was so high on, JOB didn't even give him a chance in games that don't count.

I like this move. George Hill has been a very good player for a one of the better teams in the NBA. He's still young and a local guy to boot. He fits several needs (better back up to Collison and a guy who can create a shot off the dribble) Quite a bit to like in this move.

Exactly, 8305. While having a guy who could rebound would've been nice, sure, we already have an undersized PF with a questionably inconsistent jump shot and a non-stop motor in Hansbrough.

I know JOB didn't give him a chance, but where did you see him fitting in? We had a solid PF rotation in Hansbrough and McRoberts and apparently Rolle couldn't play the 5. If you think he could play the 5 then I can't see why on earth we kept Solomon Jones. What do you think the odds are that the #42 pick will contribute? James Jones is the only contributor I can remember us having from the 2nd round.

McBob was second round (even though we didn't draft him.)
Rolle would've been a project, like Lance, and worn street clothes most of the year while developing his skillset. Which for a guy making chump-change (by NBA standards) is a fine risk. And we didn't drop Solomon Jones because for whatever reason his contract last year was guaranteed, so his salary plus Rolle's would've counted against the cap. Which is why initially we tried to trade both Jones' in order to make room for Rolle.
