Reggie Miller as GM?

So I saw on the wiretap that Simon is considering getting Reggie to come take a front office position. If in fact Bird retires after this year, it will be interesting to see what direction we take - Pritchard? Morway? Miller?

Anyways, what does everyone think about Reggie Miller as a front office guy? I'm a little tentative...

Here's the question: Does the quality of Reggie's career abilities alternate, or precipitously decline with each new job?

I mean, Reggie was a great player. But he's a terrible announcer. Does he continue his slide into being a terrible GM... or does he flip back the other way and be a great GM?

Isaiah Thomas was an AMAZING player... a fairly decent coach... and an atrocious GM.

I think Reggie would be terrible. What do you all think?

I think his broadcasting skills are different from talent evaluation and negotiation or whatever he needs. He talks funny, so he's not naturally suited to be on TV, but he's a smarter and respected former player, and that can be an advantage in a front office gig.

I don't like the idea of him going straight from the microphone to the front office. Groom him a little bit. Worked with Bird working under Donnie Walsh.

Plus, just imagine if Reggie didn't cut the mustard as a GM and imagine the PR nightmare from this headline "Pacers Fire Reggie Miller." (I nearly vomited.)
