I sure hope Reggie Miller gets in this time. He ranks way too high in too many important categories to not get in. And not just because of his longevity--he ranks really high in a lot of rate stats as well as counting stats. But I've said all of this before.

I'd argue that Slick Leonard should be in the Hall of Fame too, as the most successful coach in ABA history.

With the new ABA category, I don't see how Mel Daniels, the Bill Russell of the ABA, doesn't get in. He is the surest shot in my opinion. Reggie still has too many haters.

The Reggie haters should read this:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/ows_career.html

Everyone in the top 20 is either in the Hall of Fame or still playing, except Miller. And Miller doesn't barely squeak in, he is #7, with a score that is numerically closer to Wilt Chamberlain at #2 than to Jerry West at #8.

Then they should read this:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/ws_per_48_career.html

Total win shares per 48 minutes includes defensive win shares as well as offensive, and it does not reward longevity (in fact, it punishes longevity for those players who decline late in their careers). Despite playing until he was 39 and not being noted for defense, Miller is still in the top 50 all-time. Only two eligible players ahead of him are not enshrined in the Hall of Fame, but there are several dozen Hall of Famers behind him.

Wise up, Reggie haters!

I agree with you 100%, but there are situations where those metrics don't pan out.

Kevin Johnson and Sidney Moncrief should be in the hall. Everyone else ahead of Reggie is going in as well, including Yao Ming. Amare Stoudemire has a very good chance.

Yeah, I know. It's too bad people don't look a little harder beyond All-Star games and such. Especially when it comes to someone who played the same position at the same time as Michael Jordan.

You made me look this up--didn't realize they had created a new ABA committee. I read that this committee only gets to nominate one guy per year. There are a lot of great ABA players who are not in the Hall, so it could take a while to look at everyone. But since Mel Daniels is the ABA's all-time leader in rebounds and #4 in total points scored, you'd think he'd be very near the top of the list.
