Josh McRoberts appreciation thread

Looks like McRoberts will be gone. Mike Wells wrote not too long ago that the Pacers will look at other options, and McRoberts, who has been very loyal to the Pacers, usually is the first one at Conseco and last one to leave. If there was a chance of him staying, he'd be there now working out. But he's on his way to Los Angeles to meet with the Lakers. Also has interest from New Orleans and Memphis.

The Lakers have interest in Delonte West, who played for coach Mike Brown in Cleveland and last played for Boston, as a potential fill-in at guard and also are keen on Indiana free agent Josh McRoberts, according to a source with knowledge of their thinking. ESPN.com's Marc Stein reported that Denver free-agent guard Arron Afflalo is also on the Lakers' radar.

It was good while it lasted.

I like McBob and want him back in a Pacers Uniform. He's an energy guy great dunker runs the floor well and passes well for a big man. Kinda poor mans Brad Miller.

Will be upset if the Pacers don't re-sign him. Unless some other team is just going to completely overpay him. He's a high energy guy coming off the bench that can play PF and C.

I'd like to see if we can get that starting PF before resigning him. He and Tyler complemented each other well except neither could rebound properly.

He may be the only Pacers who have the hight and speed to guard Chris Bosh. If the Pacers could not land Nene, then resign him back!

I too believe that we need to bring him back. I actually consider him a part of our young "core".

Revisiting the trade deadline last year: It was reported that Indiana and Memphis just missed the deadline on a trade that was going to send Josh McRoberts to Memphis for O.J. Mayo. What was your reactions to that?

I was upset at the time, but George Hill is a much better pickup than Mayo IMO.

It was a 1st round pick and McBob i believe.

I like OJ Mayo. I still like OJ Mayo and despite having George Hill, i still believe the Pacers could use a shooting guard, who can get his own shot, and a guy who can shoot well. Jamal Crawford, OJ Mayo and Jason Richardson are guys i would really like on this team, after December 9th.

Yeah, it was reported to be McRoberts and our 1st round pick to Memphis for OJ Mayo, and then Brandon Rush to New Orleans for another 1st round pick in return.

In that situation, we all would have loved it. We'd essentially swap 1st round picks, and then move Rush and McRoberts for Mayo? That would have been a win. However, George Hill is a solid pickup, though Kawhi Leonard would have been a nice piece too.
