Simmons again

Post#1 » by Miller4ever » Sat Dec 17, 2011 8:17 am

The Afflalo recommendation was a little off the last time, but he only has good things to say.

Nothing really new, but his idea for us to offer Afflalo and Young some cash to put the pressure on their teams to match was interesting. Too bad Bird put the kibosh on that already.

Yeah, didn't know Simmons was that high on the Pacers...he seemed to think Indiana has no frontcourt from his talk about offering huge money to Oden and all.

I don't think there's any way the Pacers could get Afflalo short of drastically overpaying for him, which I hope they wouldn't do. And although I don't know Eric Gordon personally, I don't put any faith in the argument that he wants to "come home" to Indiana. That's almost never what motivates free agents. What motivates them is:

1. money
2. money
3. money
4. good roster fit
5. chance to win
6. money, money, money

The Pacers probably aren't ever getting Eric Gordon. However, I'm not all that worried about the two guard spot. I think Paul is going to be a very good player, which either means he will be our two guard, or he'll be our small forward and Granger will get traded for a good two guard.
