I think Vinny at the Clippers will sing or swim. If they don't perform by mid season then he may well be one of the first coaches fired, otherwise I think he is a strong COY candidate

how about Bird as GM of the year? guess it depends on what the teams that made the big name trades do. Clips could actually run away with that.

if West is a consistent starter, let's hope Psycho T is in the running for both most improved and 6th man. on second thought PG for most improved and Tyler just for 6th man.

No Clippers GM already got that after trading for Paul+ add Billups and Butler to the team.

This minimizes the additions somewhat.

Larry actually had to rebuild w/o multiple high lottery picks. Sorry I find it hard to reward any GM that recently gave away the #1 overall pick. Personally I'd rather have the subtractions, it's basically a really good starting lineup after you figure the Minny pick for Drummond or Davis. On the other hand, CP3 is great, Billups plays the same position, and Caron is on the downward slope as well.

The Clippers GM fell into the CP3 trade primarily because his team is in LA, but also because they are loaded with high draft picks. LAC's success is based solely on failure.

you now that it was projected 8th pick and the odds were against Clipps in a very slim draft, and there was no amnesty by that time. That was a great move for them. It was Clev's luck. And if that trade didnt go down it wouldnt be a 1st pick for sure, odds would change, your primary basis is stupid CP3 worths those pieces for sure and plus they got Mo an all-star that can still produce of the bench. I'm not Clipps fan by the way I'm an objective fan of the GAME.

All-Stars rarely come off the bench. The facts are the facts, somebody should be under the gun for not putting atleast top-three protection on that pick. We're not talking about the Lakers and Heat giving away late 1sts, the Clips continuously draft top five, they shouldn't have been so careless. The lockout was predicted well in advance, the salary-cap was expected to feature a lowered hard cap,and so it's not out of the question that one should possibly conceive that another bailout was imminent.

At no time as that a great move for the Clippers, even the day it was made. People understood what the Clippers motivation may have been, but giving away a lotto pick to swap Baron Davis for Mo Williams is just silly.

But yes. If that deal was not made, they would have had a different record and the Clipps may not have had the 8th worst record and ended up with the #1.

Sure the odds would've been different had they not traded Diddy, they would've improved their chances of landing the pick had they kept him. The odds are irrelevent at this point, but couldn't we agree that some type of protection was needed. For that lack of focus the Clippers GM is not worthy of any awards. I will give him credit for resigning Jordan, but that's about. He went back on his word during the CP3 process, that tells me the man has integrity issues.

Clippers GM = Neil Olshey (kind of important that if you nominate someone for GM of the year, you would atleast mention his name, especially an obscure person like that)

Honestly I think David Stern should get some consideration if the Hornets post respectable numbers. Look what he was able to add to the Hornets roster under the circumstances. Usually teams don't land that type of haul when a player is unrestricted the following season. Did I mention I don't like Stern, how is that for objectivity.
