After watching just 2 games, I have one single thing I'd like the Pacers to acquire:
Someone other than Dahntay Jones to backup the wing spots.
Now I know Indy2thaWindy is going to say, "just give Lance 30 mpg!" but let's be serious. Giving Jones 15 minutes per game is bad. Sure, we could give more minutes to lance, or george hill, but let's also realize that we will have injuries, foul trouble, etc, and will need some better backup option there on the wing.
For a while we all were talking about Michael Redd as a super-cheap, low-risk high-reward backup guy, but he just signed with Phoenix.
What options do we have out there to get a backup wing player? Someone who can play 15-20 mpg backing up Danny and Paul?

Re: Backup Wing Options
Jones has proven that he can play 15-20 mpg on a good team when he was on the Denver team that made it to the Western Conference Finals a couple of years ago. It appears Stephenson is also maturing and has the talent to be a good player.
I don't think we will need Jones or Stephenson to play 15-20 mpg, I think more like 10-15 mpg would be more likely. I think they can handle that.

Re: Backup Wing Options
If Jones is playing that poorly then give some min to Lance and look for someone to pick up we have 13 on the roster two spots open. I don't know who is still out there to sign Hansbroughs little Bro is available I think.

Re: Backup Wing Options
George Hill should be able to get more minutes once he is more comfortable with our offense and Lance from what I have seen should be able to play some garbage time already.
Jones ain't a bad player and we need some athletic guys to rebound and play defense to help out our coreplayers who can all, with no exception, can shoot the ball.
I think the plan is to explore our options once most teams know the direction they are going and with who. I don't know what the Suns are planning to do, but if we can get Grant Hill, I would be so happy.

I think the plan is to wait to see if teams are desparate at the trading deadline and if not to get through this year with what we have and look again at draft time.

Yep. I'd look at Wilson Chandler when he gets back from China in March, too.

Re: Backup Wing Options
I posted the same "problem" in the free agency thread. Now, we're two.
I really do think we need another big wing, not saying someone better than Dahntay, but someone who could actually defend bigger, stronger SF's.

Rush is only doing what he's doing because he's somewhere other than here. He's turned it on with his new surroundings. Good luck to him, but he never would be that useful here.
McRoberts, however, seems like he wanted to be elsewhere for exactly this type of opportunity. I don't think it was an us vs. the Lakers thing so much as a Lakers vs. Memphis and the rest of the league kind of thing.

I've said this for a while, and I hope he does well. Warriors is my 2nd team to watch. I love the 10:30 time slot.

Re: Backup Wing Options
I think Rush would be a lot better 15 min per night than Jones and he's expiring.
