Any interest? I don't see him fitting on the team as it is, but if we're making moves, it might make some sense.

I'd give him a look. After this year, Dahntay can become a free agent through a player option. In Oklahoma City, Green was pretty much pigeonholed into the 4, even though he is more of a natural 3, due to Kevin Durant.

So, if we were to lose Dahntay, or even if we kept him depending on if Lance Stephenson returns, the backup 3 slot would be there for Green. Gives us a nice rebounder who can play in the post, stretch the floor, and score without really having to circulate the offense around him. Plus, we could probably get him for cheaper than normal due to his condition.

Not bad. But with Granger and George in the wings, i don't know how he'll fit in.. unless he's fine with a reserve role and a minimal paycheck.

I can't say with certainty but if I were a betting man, I'd bet everything I owned that Dahntay Jones will not opt out. He's only averaged double digit once when he averaged 10.2ppg. His next best seasons are 7.5, 6.3 and 5.4. He's currently averaging 5.0 so far this season and that would be his fifth best season in 9 seasons. I just doubt a 32 year old with career averages of 16.9min 6.0pts 1.9rebs .9asts .4stls .1blks 1.0tos and 1.9fouls would walk away from 2.9million for 1 season. I feel like he'd be lucky if a team gave him 3 million for 3 seasons. He's a solid player but he's a shooting guard that can't shoot.

Anyways... I don't know about Jeff Green but I'm in love with the idea of going after Steve Nash and Ray Allen. Maybe even Jermaine O'neal if Jeff Foster retires.

Free Agents: Louis Amundson(re-sign?), Jeff Foster(retire?)

I'd try trading Darren Collison for a 1st or something if possible. I'd think L.A. would do it since they need a PG and it would probably be a late pick. Plus, Collison played at UCLA. I value Collison higher than the 27th pick in the draft or wherever it is the Lakers finish but we'd have too many point guards.

Obviously this is all wishful thinking but it's fun to think about. Sorry to be completely off topic

^^ I'd trade Collison + minimal filler for Nash right now. I've seen similar proposals on the trade board from non-Pacer fans. I've got to think Nash has 2-3 decent seasons left, based off of the early portion of this season.

Normally I would laugh at the thought of adding three elderly players, but this isn't too bad Frizzle. The only problem I see is adding Ray, w/o thinning out the wings. Otherwise, JO showed me enough toughness the other night, to where I could see him finishing his career as a Pacer backing up Roy.

If Green could be had for cheap he'd be a perfect buy low candidate. With enough versatility that he could easily fill the roles of DJones and Lou (18-20 mpg??). If healthy he could replace a starter.

I love Nash but I can't see him wanting to be in Indiana unless we are winning a title. I see him having max of 2 productive seasons left and maybe one more after that where he is in serious decline. What would we trade for him Collison and Jones plus a pick or something?

I really think our team could be dangerous with a player like Nash, and think that he would be happy/fortunate to finish his career on a team like the Pacers. At this point it's not about the money with him, so he could do us a favor if he would accept less to make us a contender.

It would also be cool if Nash finished his career in Toronto.

It's no secret that PHO and Nash will part ways this offseason, if not sooner, all things considered I'd temper my offer to Collison and instant capspace. No need to give up any future assets for a player we could sign outright in the offseason.

Nash and Allen good players but they are old. The Pacers have a good young team that will continue to improve, there is no need to break that up unless you are able to get a good young player.

I like Green but the Pacers don't have a need for him. Despite what many may think, Dahntay Jones is a fairly good back up wing man. He proved that when he played for a Denver team that made it to the Eastern Conference Finals before he came to the Pacers. I know he doesn't shoot well from outside, but he can come in and give the starters a break.

Hill, Granger and George should get the bulk of the minutes on the wing. There are 96 mpg on the wing. With Granger getting 35 mpg and if George gets 32 mpg, that leaves 29 mpg for Hill or to split with Hill and someone else. We're okay there.

Collison is improving on the point. I agree that we could upgrade, but I would rather see how much Collison improves rather than bring in an old veteran that only has 2-3 years left.

Don't forget, the Pacers are currently 6-2. Let's give them a few more games before we make any moves.

^^^ Everything you said is valid, but we just don't know how Collison will turn out, while Nash is a certainty for atleast 2 seasons. Given our 6-2 start maybe I am too optimistic to suggest that Nash could make us a contender right now.

Losing DC is a small price to pay, and besides I really think Price has grown. Maybe he & Lance could learn a thing or two under the circumstances. DC could fit into the style of offense PHO runs, while a player like Nash could transform how we run ours.

It's not like Collison is a good defender, he's actually awful.
