Pacers @ Lakers Gamethread

Post#1 » by Indy2thaWindy » Mon Jan 23, 2012 3:13 am

Vogel is an idiot. He subs PG out so he can let Kobe torch Hill. You take Collison out. He's not a good coach IMO. I wish we'd had promoted Lester Connor sooner.

Lou Amundson is like a poor man's poor man's poor man's Joel Anthony. You have to try to be that bad.

Let's get a win.

You could tell Roy's nose was broke when they had the camera on him when he was on the bench. Broken noses suck.

Is Hibberts nose actually broken?
Is he sitting out now?

I wasn't able to watch the 1st half yet... Can Roy return? If anything the injury itself will toughen him up.

I'd like to steal this one. Let's go Pacers.

Roy's back now according to the Box score so must be ok more or less. Not watching the game so don't even know if he was hurt or not by Windy suggests he was

Had some blood, but he's fine now.

Meanwhile, Vogel does what a lot of coaches are forced to do, substituting offense for defense.

As in Pacers being young/inexperienced and having turnovers
Or the Lakers being old and tired legs down the stretch?

Hibbert with 16 points in the 2nd half. Plus a few assists too. His impact offensively and defensively on our team is amazing. We're a lottery team without him.

The game thread on LA's board has a bunch of funny comments, not to mention it's about 20 pages long.

All in all this was a momentum builder.

Also, I agree with you I2TW, I'd like to see Frank sub Hill in for Collison at times. The smallish backcourt is a recipe for failure against most NBA teams.

I haven't been over there, but I'd guess there's a lot of "the refs robbed us tonight" even though they shot 14 more free throws than us and we had some horrible calls go against us. I f anything we were getting booboo'd on by the refs.

He should. I don't want us to start Hill for one reason. Collison has trouble running the starting unit. Imagine him with Amundson and Dahntay. :o I feel sick now.

If this was the case Darren Collison wouldn't lead the team in minutes per game when we have a much better player backing him up. He substitutes logic with idiocy.

Baseless Collison hate and ranting again  . He runs the team much better than Hill, who has been excellent as a SHOOTING GUARD. Collison has been running a starting unit that is among the most potent statistically in the NBA, and the team consistently plays better when he is on the floor. The Bile that you have for Collison is as misplaced as it is ridiculous. Vogel the idiot and Collison the scrub are a huge part of our 11-4 start.

We should be 13-2. The Heat were just better than us and Philly beat us because Granger was sick and Hill was hurt. We're barely beating bad teams.

We needed David West to come up big in the clutch against Toronto.
We got lucky against Cleveland and beat them overtime.
We had trouble against Toronto again.
We needed a missed kicked ball call to beat Golden State.

Did you watch the Golden State or Sacramento game? How about any? The next few games focus on Collison on both sides of the ball. You will see he brings nothing on offense and will get burned on D. It's not baseless hate, because I don't hate him or even dislike him, he's just a bad player that shouldn't start for any team. Sorry for wanting the best out of this team. Something Collison will never get out of it.

I assure you, I watch every single game. You seem to be the one wrapping up every single complaint about anything that happens on the floor with Collison and just eviscerating him, when it's quite clear he's been a net positive. Some point guards can abuse him due to his size, but there really aren't that many of him. He really hasn't been burnt that badly by many guys, has scored in a timely manner, and has taken care of the ball. He's not nearly as bad as you make him out to be, not even close.

He gets burnt by everybody. He can't keep players out of the lane.
He goes all tunnel vision and takes and bricks either out of control floaters or contested long 2's early in the shot clock during 4th quarters.
He's actually been decent during the 1st three quarters at not turning the ball over. It's a different story in the 4th quarter. In Sacramento he had the entire court open but instead decided to try to squeeze between the sideline and Demarcus Cousins late in the game and had a huge turnover that gave the Kings all of the momentum. Last night in one of the final possessions he dribbled the ball off his foot and turned it over. He's done that multiple times as a Pacer when games come down to the wire.

I don't make him out to be bad. He does it himself. You don't have to think that, but when he's gone, he will be gone, his upgrade/replacement will make you realize, "Dang, he was that bad."

I'm rather indifferent on Collison, but aren't you the one that like Lance so much? When Collison comes out for Lance or AJ I can tell you who's taking the next 5 shots. If I've got you mistaken, then I have to split my vote 50/50. There are better options than Collison in the NBA and the 4th quarter has been a problem especially for him, but he's not our only 4th quarter issue and a lot of times his play in quarters 1-3 keep us in the game.
