Power Poll Love

Post#1 » by granger05 » Mon Feb 6, 2012 6:44 pm

We've been climbing up the ESPN power polls, but this is getting pretty lofty. Hollinger's stats-based power rankings has us at #6. Marc Stein's rankings update today has us at #3! Even I think that's crazy.

The city is all theirs again with the Super Bowl circus leaving town. And after the show the committee (of one) was just treated to -- when Indy added the defending champs to a list of road victims that already includes the Bulls, Lakers, Celts and Magic -- our only complaint for now is that they don't call it Conseco anymore.

I forgot that Stein is a big Mavs fan. That probably explains our rise there. We've been climbing steadily in both, but the jump to #3 after a loss to Orlando at home seems surprising.

I can't understand why Orlando has been able to beat us twice when we absolutely hammered them the one game we beat them.

Both times we lost we failed to close out on shooters and settled for the worst shot selection I've seen all year. Dunno if it's their defense (I don't think so) or the fact that they were both homecoming back-to-backs, which we are actually worse in.

Thanks. I've only gotten to see 1 Pacers game all year. :(

How bogus is it that I live in Indiana but don't get FSN Indiana or have no way to watch my home state team without buying an NBA league pass or anything like that? Totally bogus.

People talk about the Pacers market being small, despite the fact Indy is the 13th largest city in the US. Well this is the reason why, they don't capture markets that are rightfully ours.

^ My problem is that I probably live closer to Louisville and Cincinatti than Indy.

look at the schedule. the last loss was our fourth game in five nights. not sure what it was the other time but it might have been that dreaded first game back after a western trip.

ESPN has us #5 in future rankings. You need Insider to view the article, but here's some from our section:

We continue to get more excited about the roster Larry Bird and David Morway have put together. While there are no superstars, the team is incredibly deep and plays well together. Danny Granger is in his prime, David West brings leadership, Roy Hibbert is playing like an All-Star, Darren Collison continues to improve, Tyler Hansbrough brings manic energy, George Hill (when healthy) has given the team a scorer off the bench, and Paul George may very well be the best player on this team in another year, if not one of the best players in the league -- he has that much potential.

If a Pacer fan makes that statement, particularly the part about the entire league, we get flamed.

Thanks for posting.
